Available Today on Blu-ray

There’s a nice amount of good movies out today so I thought I’d dedicate some time today as a reminder of what’s available today. First, we start today with the release of J.J. Abrams vision of ‘Star Trek’ which surprisingly enough was a complete success and not only did it bring the fans of the original series, but opened the door for the new generation of people to see how great this franchise. This is a must buy release.

Second on the list is one of the most anticipated Blu-ray releases ‘Fight Club’. The film is widely popular so it will be no surprise is sales are high for this title. Also, the raving reviews on the title should help you make a decision much easier. One last thing on this topic Amazon is giving a $5 off if you buy ‘Boondock Saints’ and ‘Fight Club’ together, the total price on the checkout (unless you have to pay taxes) is $23.48.

Available today is HBO’s ‘Rome: The Complete Series’ on Blu-ray. This set features all the episodes from both seasons of the series in stunning high definition. Also, Disney has released Kevin Smith’s 3 pack collection that includes ‘Chasing Amy’, ‘Clerks’, and ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’. Luc Besson’s ‘Leon: The Professional’ is also available on Blu-ray today from Sony.

Last but not least we have Warner celebrating the 70th anniversary of ‘Gone With The Wind: The Ultimate Collector’s Edition’ on Blu-ray. You can find this at Amazon at a very good price of $45.49 and if that’s too much for you then you might want to drive to Target and get the slimmed down version. To commemorate the release of this film Warner Home Video staged their own Flash Mob, this time with a Southern Twist. Time was suspended as 70 couples in period costumes celebrated the 70th Anniversary of America’s #1 Movie of All Time by dancing “The World’s Largest Virginia Reel” in the historic Marietta Georgia Town Square.

In addition, four original cast members attended: Ann Rutherford (“Carreen O’Hara”), Mickey Kuhn (“Beau Wilkes” at age 7), Patrick Curtis (“Baby Beau Wilkes”) and Greg Geise (infant “Bonnie Blue Butler” & infant “Beau Wilkes”), along with Gina Miller who was an extra. Bill Dunaway, the Mayor of Marietta (the town celebrates its 175th anniversary) hosted the event with special guest Robert Osborne, Turner Classic Movies’ primetime host. And at the end a giant cake with the replica of Tara was unveiled for everyone to share. Must of been a hell of an event! Check the pictures below!
