Freeman Reveals Benedict Cumberbatch’s as an Addition to The Hobbit Cast

Supposedly the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch had joined the cast of The Hobbit was a big secret. Nonetheless, his Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman, who plays the character of Dr. Watson, ended up spilling the beans after he won a BAFTA award for best dramatic supporting actor. Freeman ended up revealing that Cumberbatch has indeed going to be a part of ‘The Hobbit’ which is to be released in 2012.

Benedict Cumberbatch did not seem very willing to reveal who he would be playing in the film when asked about it. The speculation that is going around deduces that his character could most probably be Bard the Bowman. For those of you who have not read or are not familiar with the fantasy novel of the same name, in plot of ‘The Hobbit’, Bard the Bowman is an elf whose main expertise are with the bow and arrow.

For those of you who have been followers of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ book series would be pretty familiar that fantasy novel ‘The Hobbit’ is another work of J. R. R. Tolkien. The great thing about this upcoming film is that it is being by Peter Jackson, who previous also directed all the ‘Lord of the Rings’ films. ‘The Hobbit’ would in fact be serving as prequel all the previous ‘Lord of the Rings’ films.
