This Week in Comics….
This week is focusing on some issues that tie in to Movies and TV Shows. So let’s dive right in!
DC COMICS/VERTIGO
iZombie #1 Special Edition
This is a new special edition of the original Vertigo comic. It’s being released the week before the show premieres on The CW so that people can get a little familiar with the characters and the story. This is one I’ll definitely be checking out to get re-educated or learn about iZombie.

DYNAMITE COMICS
Altered States: Red Sonja #1
Altered States is Dynamite’s newest venture in the spirit of “What If…” comics and alternate universes. Red Sonja is one of the more interesting characters from the Dynamite line-up because she is ruthless and always beautifully drawn. The One-Shot’s art is by Juan Antonio Ramirez and written by Brandon Jerwa. This is one to pick up for fans!

IMAGE COMICS
Spawn Resurrection #1
During NYCC 2014, Todd McFarlane was extremely excited to announce the resurrection (see what I did there) of the Spawn comic series. There is a whole new team on the book with the art by Jonboy and the writing by Brian Wood. This is the transition issue to the ongoing series of Spawn beginning with issue #251. This issue is a crucial add because Al Simmons and Spawn are back, baby!

MARVEL COMICS
Howard the Duck #1
James Gunn did it — he actually brought back Howard the Duck from his years of slumber at the end of Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. This sparked a new generation to learn about the dirty little duck and Marvel is giving him his own ongoing book. Artist Joe Quinones and writer Chip Zdarsky have created the book where Howard is back as the Marvel Universe’s Private Investigator, beginning with the Black Cat. There are nine different covers with outstanding artists making their own interpretations of Howie. Go out and grab this one for so many reasons.
Nice write-up, man! I can’t believe Howard the Duck is back… and with nine variant covers?! Wow, Marvel… that’s just a little excessive.
