Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns to write the screenplay for the next BATMAN film

There are reports that Ben Affleck and comic book writer Geoff Johns are collaborating on the script for the next Batman movie. The rumor is that the film will be called THE BATMAN and, of course, star Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne as he is the current Batman in DC Comics’ BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

Johns is currently the chief creative officer over at DC Comics and is best known for his work on the Batman comic books as well as The CW’s ARROW and THE FLASH. Affleck’s writing credits are best known with such films as GONE BABY GONE, THE TOWN, and his Oscar-winning screenplay for GOOD WILL HUNTING.

I really think that this team can tackle the character, keeping him darker, grittier, and building him up in a way that Affleck has done in the past with his other films. To keep this pairing successful, the movie needs to stay within the realm of DC Comics and not let Warner add too many cooks in the kitchen. This movie won’t be seen until around 2018, so there is plenty of time to get it right. What do you think abut this news? Let us know in the comments below!

The next BATMAN solo movie is slated for some time in 2018.
