Loosely taken from the film FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, the series fleshes out the story lines of the bigger characters from the movie. In the cast are Santanico Pandemonium and Seth & Richie Gecko. One of the things that the series expands on that the film didn’t get the chance to is how the mythology plays into everything. The Titty Twister bar was built on a Mesoamerican temple where the vampires rest. In this season, the new baddie is Lord Amancio Malvado, some one from Santanico Pandemonium past and possibly part of her future.
The show feels like it is very much a part of what Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino were going for. It is comic book-y with monsters and humans all playing on the same field with more of the Gecko Brothers than the movie could possibly give.

The transfer is a 1080p AVC presentation.
Even though the video is a little on the darker side, the video delivers clean contrasting and easily seen details. The contrasting also makes the video feel very separated and nothing looks muddled. With the blacks being inky, the colors feel very bright against the darker shadows. The picture is so clean that some of the effects used in the show can easily be distinguished as either CGI or practical.
The audio is a lossless English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix.
The mix here is a strong mix for a TV show. There are plenty of clear effects and dialogue for the run of the season. Excellent highs, strong mids, and rich LFEs are the norm for the release. The mix uses the surround sound well by placing everything where it needs to bee for an immersive viewing experience. This is definitely a win for the Blu-ray and this is how you mix a track in HD.

For fans of the film series of the same name and works of Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino, this is the show for you. The acting is well done and the story is good with great characters for this type of show. The video is superb and audio will exceeded the expectations of most TV Blu-ray owners. I highly recommend picking this one up for both fans and newcomers.
