Ben Affleck steps down as director for the upcoming BATMAN film

Warner Bros. and DC have announced that Ben Affleck is stepping out of the director’s position in the upcoming BATMAN solo film. Affleck, who also plays the Dark Knight in the current iteration, has decided that he needs to put all of his focus on the character rather than acting as well as directing the film. He is reportedly staying involved in the process of finding a director as well as a script to try and put people’s minds at ease.

This does not bode well for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) because Warner is three films deep and they haven’t had the reception that I’m sure they would want. I know that a lot of fans, including myself, are worried about this decision to not have Affleck at the helm. I appreciate that he wants to put his energy into the character for both himself and the fans so I hope that they land a killer director.
