[Toy Fair 2017] Dark Horse Toy Fair Showcase

Next up from the Toy Fair show floor, we have one of my favorite companies to talk to: Dark Horse. If you have not figured it out by now, I am a Dark Horse fan and this year they continued to showcase new projects from their signature properties including the Hellboy, Fight Club 2, Angel, Buffy, and Dragon Age comics and collectibles ranging from figures, busts, wall mounts, bookends, pins, magnets, and much more.

Dark Horse was again kind enough to welcome Hi-Def Ninja into their booth and show us some of their products on display. This year I was able to talk all things Dark Horse with Chris Gaslin, Senior Product Development Manager.

Starting out with the GAME OF THRONES line, collectibles showcased included new Sigil magnets (set in a larger size than the pins they were previously releasing). The magnets also feature many more houses than previously seen if you like any of the more obscure houses or are just plain tired of seeing another Lannister sigil. Also on display was a Hodor doorstop and Daenerys dragon egg shot glasses which will go nicely with the sigil shot glass 4-pack previously released. In the figures line there are new characters being released including Tormund and Melisandre as well as a previously released character — Daenerys — but in a new pose. The figures really need to be seen in person as the details and accuracy are really hard to capture. Finally there was a Battle of the Bastards Jon Snow bust.

While there is a slight increase in price from previous iterations, Chris did mention that a lot of extra details have gone into the production and I for one would rather see the extra detail. Finally on display was a new Geralt playing Gwent bust.

DSC05283 DSC05285HALO continued its tradition of replica ships including the UNSC Spirit of Fire, UNSC Infinity (which may get some light-up effects before release), and the UNSC Vulture which was also available in a red variant form.DSC05326 DSC05329 DSC05330 DSC05333 DSC05334 DSC05336 DSC05335 Finally, but certainly not least, was the item I was most looking forward to seeing: The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts book. While only the standard version was on display and no photography was allowed, I can say this thing is a quality product. The book is well bound, has a really nice weight to it, and was printed on quality stock paper. The book, which is releasing soon (see my post about release parties here), was very well laid out and photos were presented nicely throughout the book which included art from games throughout the series. Any Zelda fan purchasing the book will not be disappointed.

Thanks again go to Dark Horse and Chris for showing Hi-Def Ninja their newest products at the 2017 Toy Fair!
