[SDCC 2017] Hasbro Booth and Breakfast

Each year Hasbro goes full out taking up a massive amount of floor space and bringing some of the top exclusives to Comic-Con International’s San Diego Comic-Con. This year was no different with exclusive an exclusive Paul Rodriguez designed Transformers Optimus Prime, a Marvel’s Thor pack, a Magic The Gathering card set that included a Mondo poster by Brandon Holt, and a few Star Wars sets including a Luke with Landspeeder, Grand Admiral Thrawn with his trophy room, and a surprise Luke and Rey two-pack for Episode VIII.

Like last year Hasbro again invited Hi-Def Ninja to their Entertainment Brand Preview Breakfast. The breakfast is a good place to feast on some breakfast while chatting with both other media contacts and Hasbro employees while getting an up close look at the 2017 exclusives and some upcoming products.  For Star Wars that included a Jyn Erso figure while Marvel had a display of Thor: Ragnarok figures. Meanwhile the Transformers creators showed off an amazing Rodimus Prime, the figure includes Hot Rod which then connects with his trailer once he gains the Matrix of Leadership. Also on display were products from their BeyBlade and My Little Pony brand.

Hasbro was again located in their normal spot almost dead center of the show floor with two huge booths. The main booth has huge diorama displays of their products as well as their newest items for sale from Marvel, Nerf, Transformers, Star Wars, Magic the Gathering, and My Little Pony. The other booth is the cause of countless attendees sleeping overnight in lines, the Hasbro Toy Shop booth. Fans camp out overnight in order to get a ticket in the morning with a designated time that lets you get in line to this booth and buy the exclusives. Most exclusives are generally limited to one or two per person and Hasbro stamps the back of your badge so they know you have purchased and what you have purchased. The next time your friend asks you to just stroll by the Hasbro booth and buy him a Luke and Rey set, remember that translates into camp out overnight!

Check out photos below from both the booth and the breakfast.

And yes I did brave the Hasbro booth and for the second year in a row I was able to get through on preview night and picked up a Star Wars Luke and Rey set and Magic card set.

Heavily promoted throughout the show is Hasbro’s upcoming show HasCon in September at the Rhode Island Convention Center & Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Tickets available for purchase now.
