Ready Player One is a 2018 American science fiction adventure film produced and directed by Steven Spielberg, and written by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, based on Cline’s 2011 novel of the same name. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegg, and Mark Rylance.

THE MOVIE:
It’s the year 2045, and virtual reality is all the buzz. Most of the population take part in the VR game world dubbed The Oasis. Tye Sheridan plays the part of Wade Watts an orphaned teenager who discovers clues to the hidden game inside the game/program that promises the winner ownership of the Oasis. There is the antagonist, a large company run by Nolan Sorrento who will continue to make the world feel their wrath if they get their hands on it.
What follows is a plot with purpose among allies that provide both reason and humor all the while allowing our protagonist a mission that has that typical sparkle and magic that Steven Spielberg so often repeats time and time again.
READY PLAYER ONE is by far my favorite movie of the year, and comes highly recommended by all of us at Hi-Def Ninja.
VIDEO QUALITY:
READY PLAYER ONE comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray in beautiful Dolby Vision. This film is a visceral treat of eye candy bliss. Dolby Vision HDR really helps push these colors to their limits and capture this film in it’s truest form. Whether it’s Wade’s real world or inside the Oasis this film was built for 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray and of course 3D. I recommend getting both those discs if you have the proper set ups.
AUDIO QUALITY:
READY PLAYER ONE comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray with a stellar Dolby Atmos track. The track is on both the UHD Disc and also the blu-ray disc. Such an immersive track that will rock your fronts, and surround you with subtle nuances in your rear channels. Such an action packed film that plays well to Dolby Atmos True HD.
