a rumor coming from Schmoes Know (via GeekTyrant) says that Tim Burton is now looking to direct the sequel, and Michael Keaton will reprise his comedic role as the mischievous dead man. Supposedly, the director is so keen on the sequel that he almost dropped another.

[...] However, the prospect of Burton bringing back the character who launched his directing career, not to mention Keaton reprising what might be the best performance of his career, is pretty damn enticing. The Wrap has word that Tim Burton is officially in talks to direct Beetlejuice 2 and Michael Keaton is expected to return as well.
