Paramount Announces ‘Transformers 5′ for 2016
http://www.slashfilm.com/transformers-5-2016/

Paramount loves sequels just as much as any other studio, and at the CineEurope confab — basically the European CinemaCon — studio reps touted the company’s upcoming schedule. 2016 is thick with sequels, with Transformers 5 newly announced for that year alongside Beverly Hills Cop 4, G.I. Joe 3, and Hansel and Gretel 2. Also in the 2016 announcement is Paranormal Activity 5, which represents a huge delay for the title. The film was originally slated for 2013, then pushed to October of this year, and now evidently has a more significant delay ahead.

THR reports the details from the conference.

We’ve known that a fifth Transformers film was likely, but typically this sort of announcement wouldn’t come until after the opening of the fourth. That film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, premieres this week in Hong Kong, and opens next week, on June 27. This is the first official studio statement that another film is coming. We don’t know who will write, direct, or star at this point.

Paramount Wants ‘Transformers’ to Become Marvel-Style Connected Universe

http://www.slashfilm.com/transformers-cinematic-universe/

Marvel is doing it, DC is doing it, Lucasfilm is doing it, the Ghostbusters are doing it and now it looks like Transformers will be doing it too.

Deadline reports that Akiva Goldsman, the Oscar-winning writer of a A Beautiful Mind (and the writer of Batman and Robin, among other films) is in negotiations with Paramount to lead a brain trust of writers with the aim of upping the output of Transformers movies for the studio. Goldsman will join executive producers Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura in the hiring of a collection of writers to create “a potential multi-part Transformers sequel, and come up with potential spinoff films.” Read more about this potential Transformers Cinematic Universe below.

Deadline (Link) broke this news and say things are expected to come together quickly. Bay, who has directed the last four uber-successful Transformers films, is currently expected to come back for Transformers 5. (Which is tentatively set to come out in 2016, but 2017 seems more likely.) He’s about to start production on 13 Hours and the hope is, once he’s done with that, a plan and script will be in place for him to work on.

They also report that while Goldsman might be the leader of this group, he isn’t likely to write the movies himself.

With Transformers being such a monster hit for Paramount, this really isn’t a big surprise. It’s how Hollywood is going. Plus, the last few movies have had a very cut and paste feel about them with very little cohesion or logic. If a group of people get hired to keep everything straight, that’s a good sign. In addition, the last film definitely left the franchise in a place where there was a pretty blank slate. All we do know is Mark Wahlberg will likely be back.

So let’s talk spinoffs and crossovers. This could, potentially, leave the door open for the mega G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover fans have drooled over for years. G.I. Joe is not mentioned anywhere in the Deadline article but Paramount and di Bonaventura control it. You have to assume it’s on the table.

The franchise has also been very careful to to only add a few new Transformers into each film besides the essential characters: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, etc. There are dozens of second level characters just begging to be brought into this universe and maybe even get a spinoff. The Dinobots, a series of characters recently introduced, are one. Ultra Magnus, Soundwave, Hot Rod, Unicron and so many others are great too. In fact, last summer I asked di Bonaventura about Hot Rod (a personal favorite of mine) and he said this:
"As you know, we always introduce new characters. The tricky part is if you introduce too many, the narrative starts falling apart. But he’s definitely a character we like too is the answer to that. But until we know the story, it’s hard to say what’ll come in and what won’t."

Eeeehh I don't know about all this.
They should first take care of the disappearing Characters from the movies. Where did some autobots/Decepticons go? Where is Sam? Where are the other Human characters from previous movies?

This is terrible news, I remember going to the cinema to watch either The Simpsons Movie or Transformers, and chose Transformers, what a mistake, was totally bored, couldn't see a thing as everything was a blur despite the slo-mo scenes, the storylines, pseudo-porn shots (this is a kids toy...), WAY too long running times, just irk me. and it's been the same ever since. (yes I've seen all of them)

Now if they Re-boot or re-imagine the series with a completely new production/directorial team, then something good could come out of this, as there must be some potential, but I really am not looking forward to anymore of these films.

F**k. Cant they reboot this franchise or just be done with it. I just want something new with transformers minus Bay
A transformer movie with out Michael Bay is a movie i wont watch.Bay makes good movies.Sometimes he works off Gabage scripts, though. If he get's a good story ,he does good work.Armageddon is my Favorite movie of all time and Michael directed it.He didn't have to do all the work, J.J Abrams and Jerry Bruckheimer did the heavy liffting and bay just directed.Bay is an awesome director , but he cant carry a something on his own.

The first transformers had the same writers as the Star Trek Reboot and it was good.He needs good witters to succeed.

The best part about Transformers movies is seeing all the haters moan but still spend their money and watch it anyway......just so they can moan about it some more lol. They arent the best stories in the world but I love the action and visuals. So I'll see you moaners at the ticket booth for this and T6.

PS: This is not directed towards anyone in this thread. But in general.

Last week Paramount Pictures announced a “writer’s room” for the Transformers Franchise: :writing:
http://www.superherohype.com/news/3...-transformers-franchise-writing-team#/slide/1
It was revealed back in March that Paramount Pictures is looking at expanding the Transformers cinematic universe. Previously, I Am Legend‘s Akiva Goldsman signed on to work with Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to create a franchise writer’s room to develop both sequels and spinoff features. Deadline now reveals that that writer’s room today has five new high-profile additions in the form of “The Walking Dead” and “Invincible” creator Robert Kirkman, the Iron Man writing pair of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, “Fringe” and “Lost” scribe Jeff Pinkner, and X-Men: The Last Stand and The Incredible Hulk‘s Zak Penn.

Today, Two more join the Writing Team:

Now, Deadline brings word that Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, who did production re-writes on Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man, have also joined the staff of writers that will expand the “cinematic universe” of the Transformers movies.

In addition, the outlet reveals that one of the potential titles in development is Transformers One, a prequel film set on the planet Cybertron which was briefly seen in the first film of the series. They also reveal this idea originated from rights holders Hasbro, and that the film could be an animated feature, though this remains unconfirmed.

I Am Legend‘s Akiva Goldsman will lead the group of writers who were selected by director Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura to develop both multi-part sequels for the series and franchise spin-offs.

One of the few Movie franchises that actually needs a Prequel!

Would be very interesting to see the early days of the war (especially if its anything like War for Cybertron / Fall of Cybertron)

And when will the awesome Unicron finally make his appearance lol!
