Anyone know what is the best way to protect converse trainers?

I have had many pairs of Converse over the years and never bothered about protecting them as you would say uggs or leather

However I recently got a new pair just canvas as usual but they have quite a big design and someone suggested protecting them to stop the pattern from fading?

Should I do this?

Will it prevent fading?

What's best to use?

Any help greatly appreciated

I use a spray on my trainers that waterproofs them, Jason Markk Repel.

Thanks for replying. Just had a look and it's like £12+ a bottle bit too expensive.

I think I may try just an ordinary protective spray?
