I still don't get what you have against 4K man. Blade Runner in 4K is absolutely spectacular, compare it with the BD and you'll see. No further comment needed.

read my pervious reply! Its good but not good enough to warrant anyone but a small group of absolute nerds upgrading, a small group have, most haven't and won't. With many only upgrading in Europe over the last 18 months to full HD they won't be upgrading again for at least 3 years, 4K will be long dead by then, its dying now with sales well below what the companies want. Yes 3D is a small market but companies didn't understand its a steady one that hasn't gone away. Best selling 4K model right now is a THX spec Panasonic because it offers 3D, its outselling everything, that tells companies next year what to do

"I have a Samsung 65inch full spec award winning "Best TV WORLDWIDE last year" QLED vastly superior to every other companies OLED models and calibrated to absolute perfection using 3 different test set up companies discs " I also work in the industry as management level NUFF SAID! 3D still wins! 3D is returning, 4K will be pushed hard this year but sales have not been what any company wants, 4K is laserdisc, dying fast"

Nobody wins unless there's proof, concrete evidence and not just from one source :pompus:. All I've seen so far is that major brands are dropping 3D and getting on the 4K train. I'm not biased as I can see why people like 3D, but there's just no evidence to support the theory that 4K is going anywhere but up. But I won't get caught up in this because I can picture the subscribers of this thread getting wearisome of this topic.

When it comes to electonics there is no proof, dvd wasn't certain and no proof was out there that it would take over for VHS, companies in my industry rely on no proof or they would be dead in the water. The only proof people can follow is what the adult industry is doing, they chose VHS over beta, they chose the bluray standard over HD dvd, they outsell all physical formats and what p*rn choses wins, they have bypassed 4K on large and gone for 3D and virtual 3D, what those companies chose will be the next format, 4K isn't it, its very simple. 4K is ACE but its going to be short lived which is why a heavy push this year but not many jumping on it. Tech companies always need the next thing to survive, 4K was great but meetings now don't even talk about 4K is gone.

I'm a fan of the art on the Catalonian steel, something different and way better than the HMV placeholder art.
(even though this isn't a thread about 4K... this will look stunning in 4K, just for the HDR alone IMO and I welcome the extra details.)

Ok hands up. Just realised this is a Sony release. Also the DI is 4K. So this is going to look amazing in 4K. Also the Atmos encode will be confined to the 4K disc only based on Sony's trend. So 4K is the way to go.

Coming to the artwork, as the front it too busy I am now worried if the back will feature a ant sized logo like seen on some of these Mondo Steels?

If you want to be taken seriously, you should stop stating the questionable myth of the all-powerful porn industry as fact. You're also ignoring that the adult industry initially chose HD DVD and only switched to BD after HD DVD failed. It's just good business sense to bet on the medium that is more popular with consumers.

Watched it in a state of the art THX cinema, film needs 3D, looks stunning in 3D, 4K not worth bothering about "I own a 4K tv too" I've bought virtually no 4K titles and own a fully spears calibrated high end Samsung Ultra4K set with stunning HDR before you comment! 4K D**Kstrokers need to give it up. Not real difference when set properly for viewing films and format already dead
The resolution bump is no reason to write home....
However, HDR is. The wide color gamut is a huge improvement.
And, for the love of all that is holy- STOP with these drawings for steelbook covers!
They suck. (And I mean, realllllly suck).
The only time they don't suck is when it is a master like Drew Struzan, Bob Peak, or John Alvin.
Stop letting the copy boy from the office who "likes to draw" do your art.
We are now reliving the crap that Universal did with "Reel Heroes" art.
Ug.

Resolution bump does matter especially when the DI is 4K. You get true 8.3m pixels filling up your screen and you can watch things up close without any macroblocking / pixilation.

Check Blade Runner and Amazing Spiderman 2 4K.

I'm not saying it's nothing.....But the resolution jump is not as obvious or dramatic (especially on smaller screens) as the jump from Standard Def to 1080p.

Which is irrelevant unless you watch movies with an opera glass. You don't see pixelation at 1080p under normal viewing conditions.

We're really not; this is original artwork, "Reel Heroes" stuff was traced from photos/scenes.

Ignorance is bliss is a 2-way street my dear friend. So let's agree to disagree. :)

I am not sure why there is so much animosity against UHD. It is a dream come true for film enthusiasts and videophiles. I would say let the Studios and CEs support both 4K and 3D and probably offer 3D UHD somewhere down the line as 3D is still popular.

3D is dead already in terms of consumer market.
This year at CES there was very few 3D items.
Sony, Panasonic and LG and Samsung have no 3D on latest 2017 high end models.

My 2016 OLED has 3D thankfully and it looks stunning on the OLED so no I dont hate it but that guy is talking nonsense.
3D has died as has curved screens.
If UHD sticks around or not is anyones guess but there are a lot of studios supporting it and when done well from a good non upscale source it can look amazing.
