Awesome giveaway @MGD @bloodsnake007

Best experience:
That is easy. I saw my favourite band Tool live in Munich about 10 years ago. I went there all by myself because I couldn't handle any distraction :D

Worst experience:
I was about 7 years old when my sister (5 years older) was in love with the Backstreet Boys :) Not really knowing what to expect I came along with her, her girlfriend and my father. While the girls went nuts, my father and I were just looking for it to be over.
Not that the BSB were that bad, no. It was the wild, loud crowd that made it hard to enjoy anything.

I went to see Springsteen at a football ground concert - by myself. I arrived about three hours before the concert and got a great position near the stage and then couldn't leave the spot for the next six hours or lose the spot!

Probably vans warped tour when a huge mosh pit started. My friend and I watched a one legged dude on crutches go into the pit, then a minute later both of his crutches just came FLYING out of there at 100mph in opposite directing. Never saw him again the rest of the day. The band playing was reel big fish - I still don't understand exactly what happened.

Anyway, thanks for the cool giveaway!

Great giveaway!

More of a funny experience for me is what jumps to mind... I remember having to chaperone my younger sister and her friends to an NSYNC concert whic was needless to say not high up on my list. Turned out the opening acts were Pink and Sisqo... The show was thousands of young teenagers, most with their parents chaperoning and when Sisqo opened the show doing The Thong Song with several scantily clad pole dancers up on stage I still recall the faces and shocked looks on so many of the parents as the kids all went crazy. It almost made sitting through the evening worthwhile.

Best concert experience: SXSW when Kanye West surprised Fader Fort and put on the show of a lifetime. Hate him or love him but he put on a heck of a show nonstop energy for 2 hours straight, it was unhuman
Worst concert experience: SXSW last year when Drake was performing, waited in line for 4 hours only to get turned down right when I got to the front because the person in front of me suddenly made them hit capacity

Man I love this prompt. The responses are great. Makes me miss my regular concert going days (but not that much). Great idea and awesome giveaway! I honestly don't even care if I win, I'm just loving these stories and the chance to share mine:

Instead of studying for a final exam, my buddies and I decided to get tickets to one of those mini-Warped Tour, pop punk type shows. All pretty tame stuff. We get there, walk around the venue, hang in the back while the local bands open. The "seating" is all Gen Adm standing so we wander around the floor looking for a good spot to watch the show. Then the main event starts and a circle pit forms. We enter the circle and leave a couple times without incident. Generally a good crowd, helping people up if they fall, etc. Then this BIG guy jumps in and starts pushing people over, guys and girls alike. People take offense to this and someone punches him. Fight breaks out, we rush to the other end of the venue where we think we'll be safe.

I'm standing there, far from the security scuffle to break up the fight, really enjoying the show. But not as much as the clearly intoxicated girl sitting on her boyfriend's shoulders to the left of me. He looks over at me and his face says he's having a miserable time. I give him a thumbs up and motion to the band to say, "at least the music is good" at which point I get absolutely decked on the left side of my face. I'm talking seeing stars for a second. So once I get my bearings, I get ready for an altercation (that I don't really want to have). Come to find my friends are laughing, the guy is apologizing profusely, and the girl is yelling at him for dropping her. That's right: flying sucker punch by the drunk girl as she teetered too far off balance and fell off her boyfriend's shoulders.

Lost a contact so everything was half blurry for the remainder of the show (and this was before I had daily or even monthly contacts), had a nice little bruise around my eye, and ended up bombing my final. But at least the girl's boyfriend bought us beers as an apology.

Only ever been to festivals, my favourite was EXIT festival in Serbia. The grounds it is on are spectacular, even in 44C heat :smashed: MIA, Jamiroquai and Arcade Fire were there, amongst probably 100 other acts. Lovely people and atmosphere, wish I could go back!
