Never seen this (not huge on musicals), but that artwork alone has me tempted!

It's a classic very good film

Even if your not into musicals it's a film that can be enjoyed
Must admit that I've grown to like musicals more recently, and I do tend to enjoy most classic musicals as apposed to modern ones... although The Greatest Showman really surprised me!

That being said, I'll probably wait for a price drop on this... it'll no doubt turn up for sale elsewhere since it's not an exclusive, so I imagine the print run might be fairly big.

how on earth have you never seen Bugsy Malone? by which i mean not as a dig to you, but just that it's one of those films you can't avoid on tv, like my mate who had somehow never seen a Bond movie (fear not, we've done them all now). fun, silly, good songs, young Jodie Foster playing a hooker...er... family-friendly-film version of an escort? yes, that's better.

re: the steel - odd for a film called Bugsy Malone that Tallulah is the largest cover character. and the only character on the back. we get it, it's Jodie fricken Foster, but even so... nice artwork, though.

Classic and a surprise release in a Steelbook but very welcome.

How can anyone not know the song
‘you give a little love and it all comes back to you, la la la la la la la la you gonna be remembered for the things you say and do’.... yep even the muppets covered the song!

Honestly, I'd only ever heard of it and had no clue what it was actually about... I didn't even know it was a musical until I created this thread. :bag:

If I did ever appear on TV when I was a kid, then it probably wouldn't have been a film that would've interested me... I was all about action/sci-fi back then, so wouldn't have taken any notice of this (clearly lol).

I just checked out the trailer though, and it actually looks like a lot of fun! :D

Yes, great period-looking steelbook w/ its Art Deco motifs . . . with design patterns a nod and a wink more to the GATSBY steelbook than to THE ROCKETEER for example.

Lovely cream colour complementing well the sepia photos.

As for the film: never watched it - children dressed as gangsters, Al Capone vs. Bugs Moran St. Valentine's Day Massacre re-enacted with custard pies and splurge guns, 1970s musical etc. never appealed to me . . . wouldn't knock a decade that was responsible for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF and GREASE though.

I’m another one, never seen it either! Lol. I don’t actually think it’s been shown on British TV that much over the years. Bonds are on every Christmas and holiday but I don’t remember this that much, perhaps it was and I never noticed it!:D

I enjoy this movie a lot, seen it loads of times with the family! :D I fondly remember even playing one of Fat Sam's bad guys (Angelo :cigar:) in a school play and having to do an interpretation of the "bad guys" song/dance... :hilarious::rofl:

Awesome memories lol... :joy: Will have to get this.

my significant other constantly plays the soundtrack and knows every word, so maybe i was conflating that with tv, but i do remember seeing it on schedules lots. anyway, it's a fun, light film with a great soundtrack.

but imagine if this film had been with real guns instead of splurge guns - it would have been a Peckinpah/De Palma gangster gorefest!
