I'm not quiet sure where this goes but it's a question about Sideshow so since this is a thread about retailers I'll put it in here.

When you place an order from Sideshow for a preorder for the full amount (not FlexPay) and at checkout it asks for a deposit, does that deposit come out of the total cost or is the deposit a separate payment aside from the final total?

I can't say for sure but I would think it comes out of the total. But I haven't actually bought anything that required a deposit from them so I'm not certain.

Yeah a couple of figures I paid in full but was still charged a deposit and I was curious about that. Most places don't charge you until the item ships and I can understand a deposit on Flex Pay but these were paid in full.

Comes out of the total payment. Check the status and breakdown of your payments and you'll see it deducted. Also, when they send you the final invoice, you'll see the deposit being deducted from the final price.

I've posted a thread in the General Retailer section but as most HT/SS news comes here I'd thought I'd post here as well.

Those in the UK that shop at Modelzone may or may not have heard that they've gone into administration.
This has also affected their subsidary Amerang who are UK distributors for Hot Toys and Sideshow to several UK retailers.

FYI for UK collectors, unfortunately looks like sad news as another figure/statue retailer has closed up shop...
WhySoSerious - both the website and facebook page taken down.

Hi, not sure if this is the correct thread but I'm looking for UK based Hot toys distributors. I've only used eBay up 'till now and would like to preorder new Hot toys without having to go to US or Japanese retailers to save on shipping costs. Anyone have any recommendations?

I've used them all and all are pretty good.
With the exception of both Forbidden Planets, they all require 'non refundable deposits' on pre-orders.
Price-wise they're fairly similar though both Forbidden Planets tend to be higher but that's the trade-off of not having to pay an initial deposit.

Thanks, I'll check 'em out. Looking for the best deal on the Groot/Rocket GotG Hot Toys Preorder.

I'm liking Direct Collectables pay monthly scheme, could be a good option for me.

I'd also suggest Zavvi as well as they've recently thrown their hat into this game, though I wouldn't consider recommending them yet.
I've only got a couple of preorders with them but so far they've not instilled much confidence in their ability yet
Had one order where they wouldn't lower my order price after they lowered theirs, so I had to reorder the item and losing reward pts in the process.
While another preorder get cancelled as they couldn't fore fill - yet the item isn't even out yet
So if you plan on using them I wouldn't recommend placing orders of 'essential' items just incase
