Official Synapse Press Release/Info on Disc/Extras:

A 3-DISC (BLU-RAY, DVD & CD) LIMITED STEELBOOK™ EDITION OF DARIO ARGENTO’S HORROR CLASSIC! ONLY 3000 UNITS PRODUCED!
Italian terror master Dario Argento elevates the Giallo genre to new heights with 1982’s TENEBRAE, a darkly humorous, futuristic and notoriously grisly horror film many consider to be one of his finest works.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!

This all-new 1080p high-definition release of TENEBRAE is presented here, for the FIRST TIME EVER, with rare English insert shots never-before-seen on any optical disc release! Starring John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA), this slasher-horror classic also features an amazing music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin).

RAZOR-SHARP SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:

    • All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from original uncut negative elements, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1
    • Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both
    • Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh
    • Original international trailer
    • Booklet containing liner notes by Derek Botelho, author of THE ARGENTO SYNDROME, with additional technical notes by Vincent Pereira and Don May, Jr.
    • Chapter Selections
    • Collectible Steelbook™ Packaging by Silver Ferox Design
SPECIAL FEATURES EXCLUSIVE TO THE BLU-RAY DISC INCLUDE:

    • Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via seamless branching
    • Feature-length in-depth documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by High Rising Productions, chronicling the giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genre. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Luigi Cozzi, Lamberto Bava, Richard Stanley, and more!
    • Original UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequence
    • Alternate opening credits sequence
    • Japanese SHADOW theatrical trailer
INCLUDES A BONUS COMPACT DISC (19 Tracks) featuring an all-new 2015 remaster of the TENEBRAE motion picture soundtrack, containing additional tracks not included on the original 1982 album.

Wanted one of these bad, but didn't have the funds. Luckily my old pal laserdisc came to my aid with a well timed sale. Cutting it fine but I got an order in for my personal favorite: the Dark Inner

Wow! The power of marketing!

Had no interest in this but I just checked out the trailer to see what I was missing out on.

Even as a big horror buff I never bought into these cheap Italian horrors. I'm not even sure how these types of movies can be seen as horror. The trailer is hilarious! Is the movie really that badly dubbed? Looks like a mixture of Garth Marenghi and Grindhouse!!! :D

Well done to everyone involved for the tremendous amount of work and design that went in. Fantastic stuff. I just feel it's a pity the honour of this treatment didn't go to a more deserving title.

Most of the cast actually were speaking English despite it being an Italian film. It was actually dubbed into Italian for the local market.
I saw a trailer on youtube where it looked like everything was out of sync, turned out it was just someone had managed to muck up the trailer somehow.

Try watching this one instead, it was a lot better than the one I originally saw.

Bloody love this movie, very underrated film, though we now need his masterpiece "Suspiria" to get the steelbook treatment, I am absolutely astonished that Suspiria has not had a steelbook release, the opening death scene in this movie is one of the finest horror set pieces in movie making history

Suspiria is currently being remastered by Synapse, so you never know

Damn, missed the opening announcement & pre-order on this (the only day I didn't actively browse through this forum).

I was like, "I want the tripack" - already sold out :ohno:
Then I was like, "ok, I'll just have to get the one then... love the Quiltface variant" - already sold out :(

Was sitting here for a long time deciding whether I'd want the Aseo or Dark Inker.

Decided on the The Dark Inker variant in the end.

Each to their own I guess. Many people would disagree, hence the 7.2 rating on IMDB, 73% critic rating and 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yeah I know. It's personally not my bag. Think you have to be a fan of this particular type of thing.

I have to pass on this for now
I have funds but bills and other items take priority over ordering this
I already have the Arrow Video Steelbook that is also remastered and has good extras

If the HDN exclusive is still in stock in Nov/Dec
I might get it then but that will be just to support the HDN website
I can't order now as at the moment as payment is required now with bills and new oven to purchase and lot of other releases my available funds its simply not an option to pay up front

Glad you got one @Graphic_Delusions :) As soon as I layed eyes on the Quiltface variant, I knew that was the one to get for me but all 3 have their own unique twist and style. No doubt that each and every variant will be an awesome package to behold-that's for sure!

cheap? hilarious? not deserving this treatment?
well i think you're not well informed on what kind of cult classic title argento's tenebrae is! i just watched the arrow video disc again last night, this time with a very interesting commentary track by argento expert thomas rostock, and learned how intelligent and complex the structure of this movie is built, how artistic the screen compositions are formed, and in one word, how brilliant this movie is. now i understand better why some movie critics constantly compare argento with antonioni.
it's more a piece of art than trash. yes, seriously. ;)
there is a sub layer in this movie (structure) that makes your jaw drop once you find out about it.
but fair enough, some people like boring and forseeable jump-scare movies more than the actual classics. each to his/her own. ;)

Granted, I haven't seen the film. But if it has all those things you say, it's all a waste of time when the actors or actresses look like they've just been yanked from the dole queue!!! Even John Saxon looks wooden in this!

Battlefield Earth cost $100m to make. Doesn't mean it's a good film!!!

But I guess it's easier for you to get an insulting dig into someone who doesn't feel the same way as you on something and to assume I don't know anything about horror. Only modern jump scares. My all time favourite horrors are from the 70's and 80's.

But not this type of thing.

Rostock's commentary on Proffondo Rosso is incredible, who knew the significance of a white telephone to the political landscape of 1940's Italy.

It should be noted that the majority of Italian films are dubbed, they just didn't shoot with live sound , it enabled them to employ (name) actors from around the world and then localize when exporting ,
