Official Synapse Press Release/Info on Disc/Extras:

A 3-DISC (BLU-RAY, DVD & CD) LIMITED STEELBOOK™ EDITION OF DARIO ARGENTO’S HORROR CLASSIC! ONLY 3000 UNITS PRODUCED!
Italian terror master Dario Argento elevates the Giallo genre to new heights with 1982’s TENEBRAE, a darkly humorous, futuristic and notoriously grisly horror film many consider to be one of his finest works.

American mystery author Peter Neal (Anthony Franciosa) comes to Italy to promote his newest novel, TENEBRAE. Unfortunately, a razor-wielding serial killer is on the loose, taunting Neal and murdering those around him in gruesome fashion just like the character in his novel. As the mystery surrounding the killings spirals out of control, Neal investigates the crimes on his own, leading to a mind-bending, genre-twisting conclusion that will leave you breathless!

This all-new 1080p high-definition release of TENEBRAE is presented here, for the FIRST TIME EVER, with rare English insert shots never-before-seen on any optical disc release! Starring John Saxon (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Daria Nicolodi (Dario Argento’s PHENOMENA) and John Steiner (CALIGULA), this slasher-horror classic also features an amazing music score from Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli and Massimo Morante (formerly of Italian progressive-rock band, Goblin).

RAZOR-SHARP SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE:

    • All-new Synapse Films supervised color correction and restoration of a 1080p scan from original uncut negative elements, presented in the original aspect ratio of 1.85:1
    • Dual English and Italian language options with newly-translated English subtitle tracks for both
    • Audio commentary track featuring film critic and Argento scholar, Maitland McDonagh
    • Original international trailer
    • Booklet containing liner notes by Derek Botelho, author of THE ARGENTO SYNDROME, with additional technical notes by Vincent Pereira and Don May, Jr.
    • Chapter Selections
    • Collectible Steelbook™ Packaging by Silver Ferox Design
SPECIAL FEATURES EXCLUSIVE TO THE BLU-RAY DISC INCLUDE:

    • Rare high-definition 1080p English sequence insert shots, playable within the film via seamless branching
    • Feature-length in-depth documentary, YELLOW FEVER: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE GIALLO by High Rising Productions, chronicling the giallo film genre from its beginnings as early 20th century crime fiction, to its later influences on the modern slasher film genre. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Umberto Lenzi, Luigi Cozzi, Lamberto Bava, Richard Stanley, and more!
    • Original UNSANE (U.S. version of TENEBRAE) end credits sequence
    • Alternate opening credits sequence
    • Japanese SHADOW theatrical trailer
INCLUDES A BONUS COMPACT DISC (19 Tracks) featuring an all-new 2015 remaster of the TENEBRAE motion picture soundtrack, containing additional tracks not included on the original 1982 album.

Granted, I haven't seen the film. But if it has all those things you say, it's all a waste of time when the actors or actresses look like they've just been yanked from the dole queue!!! Even John Saxon looks wooden in this!

Battlefield Earth cost $100m to make. Doesn't mean it's a good film!!!

It's easy to assume I don't know anything about horror. Only modern jump scares. My all time favourite horrors are from the 70's and 80's.

But not this type of thing.

well, then you should watch it and find out WHY there is that obvious overacting and drawing-board characters. ;) that's part of the whole story, mate. ;) that was a very intentional move by argento. just like lynch's "mulholland drive" is also full of cliché and artificial characters (maybe you've seen it and know what i mean).
you should not expect a "realistic" movie. it's a movie about imagination, mirroring and creating atmosphere with colours light and sound.
and not by any means it is a "giallo". it's more the satiric post-variant of it.

and @BluSteel2012 to your edit: i can't see anything in my reply that was insulting in any way. ;)
i believe you that you like 70ies and 80ies horror, so do i. but then you should watch tenebrae soon (and then a 2nd time with the rostock commentary) and find out for yourself why your assumptions after watching the trailer were wrong. :)

A lot of Italian films even with english actors especially american actors speaking english in the 70's and 80's Italian films the english/american actors voices were dubbed in english by an Italian actor and also the audio in Italian and that was normal back then
Some American Actors later became big names in later films its funny to listen to their voices dubbed in english by an italian actor and not their own voice your used to hearing

Wow- I picked a bad weekend to be moving and unpacking away from a computer as I completely missed this reveal and pre-order :grumpy:... Oh well package looks great and would have loved one of the tri-packs, but at least I was able to pick up the ASEO and Dark Inker editions today still (will have try to hunt down a Quiltface edition at some point in the future)

Great work everyone at HDN who had a hand in this

Yeah, I hope the next one has more time between the announcement of the title, release of the artwork, and the pre-order time.

I had to pass on this one despite the awesome artwork (especially the "darker ink" one) mainly because it's a film that I'm pretty sure I won't like too much. $40+ is a lot for me to spend on a movie that I'm not crazy about. The team did a phenomenal job on the design of the whole package, though. Major kudos to them for putting something like this together. Hopefully their next project is something more aligned with my tastes. :D
