"One of the best red and black steelbooks in the U.K" . . . yes, absolutely . . . and what's more I can't believe that anyone doesn't like this steelbook but can believe that anyone who doesn't like it doesn't own it :-
For better pics see huggy2k4's post #33 in the appropriate thread

Of course, for the better off amongst us, there's always the EXACT SAME steelbook in a slipcase from a certain premium retailer for 50 quid or thereabouts (but you already knew that . . . ):-

Anyway, I shouldn't give a flying fart if anyone here likes or doesn't like the design and colour of this steelbook as I like it and that's all that matters.

I checked out that thread......

Quite like the look and colouring of this and @GBP 12.99 - which it is now - I might just consider it.)

........hardly a ringing endorsement

Well, it should be obvious to the reader that I hadn't bought it / received it at that point.

KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR

From The Quentin Tarantino Archive
"About The Film
The Whole Bloody Affair is a term that has been used by the press and Tarantino for the integral version of KILL BILL That version premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 and is yet awaiting wide release. It is comprised of both Volumes of Kill Bill, plus material that is yet missing from the US and international versions (but was included in the Japanese release). The chapters will remain in order, the cliffhangers and tags will be dropped. Tarantino had Production IG do an additional 7 minute anime sequence for the O-Ren chapter, which was not shown at Cannes.

  • KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR DVD set (info soon).
It has also been called the "version integral", especially in the French press.

The Complete Version
Empire Online was one of the few online magazines that provide a review of the uncut Kill Bill. The version, that was shown in Cannes, combines both Volumes as one film (but did not yet have the additional anime footage)

Some changes, according to EO

  • No "klingon proverb" quote. Instead a dedication
  • HOBL fight massacre in color, slightly differently cut
  • gorier anime scenes
  • extra anime footage added (stated in QT quote/Jan 09)
  • various other scenes slightly longer
  • Sofie Fatale loses more limbs
  • no "baby" cliffhanger ending
  • short (music-accompanied) intermission between two parts
  • Volume 2 is not different
Quentin Tarantino in an interview with us on January 12: "We’ve actually added some things to it. We did a whole little chapter that I wrote and designed for the animated sequence, that we never did, because we figured, back when it was gonna be one big movie, it was going to be too long, so we didn’t do it. So when we were talking about re-releasing it, they asked is there anything you can put in, and I said no I put everything in there, but… there’s one sequence that we wouldn’t even have to shoot! So we got together with Production IG and did it, and it’s really cool. So it’s this little seven minute sequence, it’s really cool, it’s in the O-Ren chapter." (Click here to read our interview with Tarantino on the Whole Bloody Affair)."

So, if QT himself stepped up to you and told you it exists you still wouldn't believe it because it's not available to buy?
I really don't know how to make this any simpler for you.......Tarantino has yet to make any of the changes that he has hinted at over the years *except* adding the animated sequence. If he leaves it at that, and calls it "The Whole Bloody Affair", fine, but it won't be the film that he said he wanted to release. As for availability to buy, I've absolutely no idea what you're talking about as I haven't mentioned it once.

Forget about buying. Don't be weird, man. Would you believe QT if he told you it exists?!?

I own the Japanese Kill Bill Vol. 1 DVD, which has the HOBL fight in colour as well as the other edits mentioned above. I'm of the understanding that the Japanese DVD is the only way to watch the Japanese edit, it has never been released on bluray anywhere.

  • Thanks

this is correct

(I'm the same, also have the Japanese DVD but dying for it to be released on Blu ray. Or just the whole bloody affair will do)

I expect this to get listed as sold out on Monday if not shipped by Monday on Zavvi website unless it shipped on Monday or release date on the website changes.
Zavvi stock control system auto lists as sold out if the release date thats on their system passes and no units in stock.
A few releases with Zavvi have been shipped 2-3 days after release date due to stock arriving late otherwise the release date gets changed that day or 2 days later

We will know soon enough
