From IMDB
The Los Angeles Times talked to Dan Aykroyd about Ghostbusters 3 that is in development at Columbia Pictures. Here are several excerpts:

Aykroyd said Sigourney Weaver is on board now, as are the original squad of ectoplasmic specialists -- Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

"We could be in production by winter."

Aykroyd said he wishes Ivan Reitman would return to direct the third film in the series but that he's "too busy as a mega-producer" to take it on; his second choice is Ramis, who, of course, co-wrote the first two "Ghostbusters" films with Aykroyd and has numerous directing credits, most notably "Groundhog Day" and "Analyze This."

The details of story are still in play, but Aykroyd said he's hoping for a five-member "new generation" team with several female members. "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation."

As i said it is funny how much time and effort people are taking on a film they dislike. It is also funny the amount of people that have said to me only women liked it. This is not true, i was with a male and they loved it, and many online also have enjoyed it. It is also sad that people have to apologise for liking it, it is a great film.

I loved this guys honest review.

Also really like this Guardian headline by Peter Bradshaw

and YES this is from a women but cool from Time magazine

Just like any film I don't like, that's cool everyone is entitled to an opinion but the abuse people are getting for liking it is embarrassing and as I said before the racist abuse Leslie has received is atrocious.

I hate to say it, but The Guardian was never, ever going to be able to hate this. ;)

And that last bit that from TIME that says people don't like it on principle because they "don't like the stars" or "the trailer was bad" - those are both VALID reasons not to like something. Applying her own confirmation bias after the fact (ie because she liked the movie) is appalling journalism. This SJW mentality online is getting out of hand and growing into almost as much of a monster as the trolls and idiotic douchebag clubs like the MRA.

I repeat its funny how much time people spend talking about something they don't like ;)

The Internet has lots of positive features but the hate and trolling that exists is terrible particularly over a film. It's just a movie whether we like it or not. I mean when such tragic events have been happening particularly over the last month.

The stuff said to Leslie was terrible, she was in a film ok people don't like it but the stuff said is disgusting

Your posts about how much you disliked X-Men Apocalypse ring a bell. ;) :p

I genuinely think the world would be a very fake and boring place if people didn't share their honest opinions about stuff - obviously I understand that there's a limit though... some people are just downright disrespectful and offensive, which is NOT OK!

But still... whether you love or hate something, I find it interesting to hear from both sides. Some of my favourite conversations about films are with people who have a different opinion to me. :)

Aww but @Noodles
that film truly was **** lol ;)

I saw the new Star Trek film and it is an excellent film. I really enjoyed it.

It was funny while watching I was thinking of the ridiculous abuse that Ghostbusters has received. I mean for me I know a few people that haven't watched the new Star Trek films as they are diehard Trekkies and won't watch on principle and the same with the new Doctor Who. I've always thought it was a shame and really it was their loss as I personally love both new incarnations.
For me yes I love the old stuff but it is so nice as time goes on that these characters and ideas may live on generations later. I love that there is still a Doctor running around in the Tardis and the Enterprise still exploring space.

I personally loved the new ghostbusters as it had everything I loved about the originals and yet brought the ideas into 2016. It's a shame it can't be embraced as the new incarnations of both Star Trek and Doctor who are.

But ah well each to their own ;)

Well, I enjoyed it. :D

Glad you liked the new Star Trek. I've heard very good things about it, and I really enjoyed the previous two, so I'm sure I'll love the third too! :)

I've never understood that mentality... I would've missed out on so many great films if I stuck to thinking like that. Take Star Trek for example... I never was a fan of the original Star Trek, so a part of me expected not to like the new films, but I gave them a chance and ended up loving them! Even though the trailers look awful and I can't stand Melissa McCarthy (have I mentioned that in here yet? :p), I'll still also give the new Ghostbusters a watch, just to be sure. But yes... it's definitely their loss!

I agree... it's great to see popular franchises and characters from our youth being introduced to a new generation of fans. I very much doubt kids today would be interested in seeing a 65 year old Bill Murray stumble around after a ghost... hell, I'm not even sure I'd want to see that either.

Very true  I don't think I would have liked it either and I love Bill Murray. If it couldn't be them for me this is a great second :)

This is a discussion forum, so to berate someone for making a well constructed post and to bring in extraneous issues (presumably to concatenate my post with those as a way of damning by association) - and not rebutting or even addressing it at all - is a tad disengenuous is it not?

However, since the mods have spoken I shall refrain from further comment - I simply wished it to be noted that a post with well constructed points and content, as part of a discussion, on a discussion forum, is neither trolling or bickering

I havent seen the film yet... and want to. Im easy to please so figure I'll like it regardless as I was never a hardcore GB fan.

However, I read this elsewhere and found it rather intriguing.

Harold Ramis wrote material for: caddyshack, meatballs, stripes, animal house, SCTV, Groundhog Day, back to school etc.
Dan Aykroyd wrote material for: Saturday night live, the Blues brothers, spys like us, dragnet, etc.
These two people co-wrote ghostbusters in the eighties.

Who wrote the new movie again? Someone who wrote for season 12 of mad tv and another who wrote for freaks and geeks.
These two people co-wrote the 2016 ghostbusters.
Should we review the careers of each of the actors in each film?

Not to say the new writers can't have hits in their futures, but current bodies of work can be rather interesting.

Well all the people who wouldn't even see it but were mouthing off will be happy. I think that's a huge shame as it is an awesome film, real shame but not surprised but bit sad with the **** they make nowadays, but as the director said it was screwed before he even wrote a line.

It would appear that a number of movies are under performing at the box office including Star Trek Beyond.
Yeah, less and less people seem to be going to the cinema nowadays... I stopped going a long time ago, although have actually been more recently (and by that I mean twice in the last year, compared to not at all in the past 10 years lol). Rising ticket prices are the main reason for me not going any more... obviously I can't speak for others, but I have a feeling that's a main factor for them too.

Yes I think the prices are getting ridiculous, some places £10+ a ticket, you can buy a dvd for that and the food is worse they charge you like £6 for one of those tango ice drinks, it's a piss take.

Absolutely. Unless its something really big, i dont make much effort to watch it either. Last movie i saw on the big screen was the Force Awakens. :D
Same here mate. Going to watch Jason Bourne on Saturday though... my dad's treat, otherwise I wouldn't bother! My next cinema trip will probably be for Rogue One.

Yep, tickets are a little over £10 for an adult at my local cinema, and that's just for a standard 2D screening in the regular seats. Don't even get me started on the prices of their food! Like you said... you can buy the film for around the same price and watch it as many times as you want in the comfort of your own home.

Totally agree, Shocking ticket prices (I don't mind paying a premium when going to an IMAX), My local SHOWCASE charges extra for XL seats which to be honest not much better than their standard but in a lot of their screens are putting in more of the XL seats in so you end up paying for them unless you want to sit up close to the screen  it cost me £36 to watch Suicide Squad in 3D at a Matinee showing:mad: and you need a flipping loan to get snacks...my gosh they are expensive :greedy::greedy::greedy:, they have cheap nights for Insider members on a Sun evening and Monday and Tuesday and are packed...It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that the prices are way to expensive on other days!!! Then they wonder why piracy is on the rise???
