LOL-yeah, I always hated the whole arrow through the eye scene at the dock, but then I am a horror weenie, LOL:) When we were much younger, my best friend and I used to do Horror marathons with "Up All Night" with Gilbert Gottfried-OMG..LOL...

I gotta try to add something to this more often. Doghouse was awesome by the way. Here's a trailer for a new one that I thought looked interesting. Another Dark Comedy.

Some Guy Who Kills People

Trailer for John Landis-Produced Horror Comedy 'Some Guy Who Kills People'!
Posted By MrDisgusting February 9, 2011 @ 11:01am

Almost exactly one year ago Bloody Disgusting's Chris Eggertsen took to the set of the Jack Perez-directed Some Guy Who Kills People, a new horror comedy produced by the legendary John Landis (American Werewolf in London, "Thriller").

Starring Kevin Corrigan, Lucy Davis, Barry Bostwick, Karen Black, and Leo Fitzpatrick, the pic is about a small town loser fresh out of the loony bin who seeks revenge on those he deems responsible for ruining his life.

With EFM kicking off tomorrow, this morning we got our hands on the first trailer, while also learned of the film's newly launched official website and Facebook. Go become a fan! Watch for distro news as it's announced. Check out the new image gallery for more stills.

This one could be really cool or just plain terrible.

First Three 'Red Riding Hood' TV SpotsTuesday, February 8, 2011

I wish I had something more exciting to share with you, but for those of you clamoring for Warners Red Riding Hood adaptation, inside you'll find the first three TV Spots featuring a bit of new imagery. I'd expect a slew of clips to arrive before the March 11 release date.

Directed by Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke, "Valerie (Amanda Seyfried) is a beautiful young woman torn between two men. She is in love with a brooding outsider Peter (Shiloh Fernandez), but her parents have arranged for her to marry the wealthy Henry (Max Irons). Unwilling to lose each other, Valerie and Peter are planning to run away together when they learn that Valerie's older sister has been killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village. For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. But under a blood red moon, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Gary Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. But Solomon's arrival brings unintended consequences as he warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. Panic grips the town as Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast--one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect...and bait."

it's awesome. It's reminded me allot of Shaun of the Dead. Just good English humour.

I remember being very Excited about a Nazi Zombie flick called "Worse Case Scenario" (trailer below). I think I posted about it here in the forums somewhere when we were heavily into killing the bastards in COD:W@W. Anyway, that film failed to get funding but apparently this new ditty from the same fella has managed to get someone with some cash to back up his new project "FRANKENSTEIN'S ARMY". Looks gruesome.

MPI Media/Dark Sky Films Finance 'Frankenstein's Army'
Wednesday, February 9, 2011

After the debacle that was Worst Case Scenario, we were immediately skeptical when a promo trailer was released for Richard Raaphorst’s Frankenstein's Army. Thankfully, this sucker is now officially financed and going behind cameras. Thumbs up!

It was announced today that MPI Media Group, LA-based XYZ Films and Pellicola of Amsterdam have entered into a coproduction deal to produce Richard Raaphorst’s Frankenstein's Army. Shooting is to begin in the spring in Prague and Amsterdam and will be completed by late fall.

Raaphorst’s Worst Case Scenario stands as one of the great horror films that never was. The Nazi-zombie project whipped up a massive international following thanks to two early promo reels. But due to financing and production difficulties, the project was abandoned in 2009. Now, director Raaphorst will bring his visionary design skills to this new horror movie, to be distributed by MPI/Dark Sky Films in North America.

"Using shocking vintage newsreel footage as his jumping-off point, Raaphorst has hit on a unique and bold premise. Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary’s Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of supersoldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat." More producer details inside.

Director Raaphorst co-wrote FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY and the film will be produced by Nick Jongerius and Daniel Koefoed (Harry Doright and Dead End) of Pellicola and Todd Brown of XYZ Films. Nate Bolotin, Aram Tertzakian and Nick Spicer of XYZ Films will serve as Executive Producers, and the director of photography will be Gabor Deak (Sextet).

MPI’s Greg Newman, in announcing the production, said: “We are excited to be partnered with XYZ Films and Pellicola in bringing to the screen the next work by one of the truly remarkable filmmakers working today. If the worldwide public clamor for Worst Case Scenario is any indication, Richard’s startling vision for FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY will thrill viewers everywhere.”

MPI’s Dark Sky Films, known for the large catalogue of respected genre films it distributes, has also become an acclaimed horror producer with such modern highly praised films as, Ti West’s The House of the Devil , Adam Green’s Hatchet II, Jim Mickle’s Stake Land and West’s highly anticipated The Innkeepers, starring Sara Paxton and Kelly McGillis.

The the girl and I watched Doghouse last night - It was awesome! I think that the women who played the bride zombie and the butcher were actually men though, made it even more creepy :p I'll keep an eye out for it to go on sale, I wouldnt mind owning that one.

Scared me half to death when I first watched that as a kid as did The Haunting (the original).

Some of my other favourites of all time are:

The Thing
Poltergeist
Night/Dawn/Day of the Dead
American Werewolf in London
Jaws (not strictly horror but it was enough to keep me out of the sea for years) Still waiting for this on Blu Ray

I would love to see John Carpenters Prince Of Darkness hit blu and i am also hoping to see Fright Night and Fright Night Part 2 get releases aswell. I love those movies!

I agree 100% on this one!! One Of Carpenter's best IMO and i beleive it to be very underrated!

the Movie sets a very eerie tone from the get go and never lets up! if you havent seen this yet please do so its out there on dvd from universal pictures. Heavy Metal fans get a Bonus treat as Alice Cooper is in the movie! :scat:

Yeah i think its one of his best films also and i'm suprised it doesn't get more attention. The score is great, really creepy and gets in your head like most John Carpenter films do!

Yes, Carpenter has a special skill in the creepy department. Amazing what older films were able to achieve with the score, and simple sound effects!

Carpenter does alot of his own scoring in films (Halloween, Precient 13, The Fog, Prince of Darkness and more) and he does a great job of of setting the tone and pace of the film with this added touch.

When Halloween was first completed he had not done the score yet and it began showing in limited runs in small theaters and shown to execs to get a more national release and distribution, as it was an independent film. Everyone hated it!! Once he added in the score to Halloween (all written and performed by himself) the film began to get rave reviews and is now the Iconic film it is today!

Prince of Darkness' score is a perfect fit in every way to the visials of the film. unfortunately, both film and score suffer from lack of exposure and bad critical resoponse.
