He uses elements of the originals but ultimately places the characters in new environments. MacGyver is all CSI/Covert Ops. Ironically the original was NOTHING like that nor did he have Jack Dalton stuck to his a$$ like a Siamese twin. He worked alone. Most of the time.

The New Magnum seems closer to home but i suspect this is nothing more than a smokescreen for what is to come.
