What's the difference between a metal steelbook and a metal slipcase? Sorry for being ignorant! ;)

Steelbooks are a brand name, so thats one difference. The other being a metal slip case aka steelcase has a plastic amaray blu-ray inside that slides in from the side.

A steelbook case opens like a case and has disc holders inside.

And then there is Metal Paks, IronPacks etc.

some differences here http://www.bluraysteelbooks.com/steelbook-resources/

This is not a Metal Slipcase, it's a simple cardboard Slipcase with rounded corners, that came with the first print of the Amaray case.

Do they make any cardboard slipcases with rounded corners in the USA? I've never seen that before - is this mainly in Italy?

I don't know about USA, I have a few italian slipcases and they are almost all like this (for Blu-ray), thin cardboard and rounded corners.

They aren't like the usual DVD slipcases, for the Blu-ray they are pretty thin, and they slips "vertically".
