Approximately 25 years later, David Lynch and Mark Frost will be revisiting the wonderful and strange town of Twin Peaks. And we’ll be able to witness the fruits of that trip, as rumored earlier, on premium cable network Showtime. But we’ll have to be more patient than Dale Cooper ordering room service, because the brand new show is set to premiere in 2016 which is 25 years after the final “How’s Annie?” cliffhanger episode aired.

Details are still rolling in like two-by-fours from the Packard Mill, but David Lynch and Mark Frost will start shooting a new, 9-episode season in 2015. They’re trying to bring back as much of the original cast as possible, with Kyle MacLachlan definitely on board reprising his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper. Composer Angelo Badalamenti and Emmy Award-winning editor Duwayne Dunham will likely be involved as well.

hmmm...

Season 3 may be pushed out to 2017. At least according to Mark Frost.

“A lot of people always look back at ‘Twin Peaks’ and say that was the start of this explosion we’ve had in good television drama, but we did it in a time when there were still only three networks,” said Frost. “The challenge for us is to try and come back and raise the bar above what we did the last time. We’re coming back with season three of ‘Twin Peaks’ after a 25-year absence. We’ve finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017.”

I really cannot wait

Having only watched both seasons for the first time ever recently, I instantly fell in love with the show. It's funny, charming, dramatic and down right weird! Really hope they explain and conclude the cliff-hanger finale

It was a bold move, releasing first 4 episodes at once (1-2 via TV, 3-4 via streaming) and leaving the viewers to sweat for 2 more weeks for episode 5.

I personally think it's great fun trying to piece it all together. Although the show doesn't attempt to "go safe" and just wallow in nostalgia (such nostalgic moments are very scarce, but when they occur, they are more effective this way). :)

Anyway, the original flavour is still there.

Love this. 4 episodes in and it's pure Lynchian Horror. The first 15-20 mins of episode 3 is terrifying. That's how you do suspense Ridley Scott.

That glass box too!

Can't wait to see what else Lynch has up his sleeve now that he can push the envelope a bit more.
