Artdigiland books is an Irish-based publisher dedicated to cinema, theatre, performance and visual arts, in contact with the Italian Cultural Institut in Dublin, too.

We would like to introduce our new editorial project: it is an interview-book (to be released in October 2017) to cinematographer Luciano Tovoli. The volume, entitled On Suspiria and Beyond: A Conversation with Cinematographer Luciano Tovoli, edited by Piercesare Stagni and Valentina Valente, will be issued worldwide (Italian and English version) during the release of the blue ray of a new restoration of the film Suspiria by Dario Argento, supervised by Tovoli himself and realized by the American company Synapse Films.

Luciano Tovoli (AIC ASC) has worked with very famous directors, such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Marco Ferreri, Ettore Scola, Luigi Comencini, Liliana Cavani, Barbet Schroeder, Vittorio De Seta, Dario Argento and more. He has been awarded with two silver ribbon prizes, in 1976 for The Passenger by Antonioni and in 1989 for Splendor by Scola, plus a David di Donatello award for Scola's Captain Fracassa's Journey (1990).

The volume retraces all the stages of making Suspiria from test shots to printing. It describes in detail the making of various sequences, relations with the director, explores the cultural premises of this immortal work and the historical context of the struggle for innovation in the cinematography of the Seventies. Above all, it reveals Luciano Tovoli's passion and tireless search for an expressive use of color in films, providing us with a first-hand experience of an incredible adventure in aesthetics.
