Protecting Your SteelCases

I used to have the one Steelcase I have (SCC) in a ziplock bag. But I am thinking of at least putting in a jumbo bag as I am not digging the ziplock look, haha.

I was wondering if a DVD sized sleeve would work, but it looks only to be about 1/8" bigger in terms of width, so I think that would still be too small. :(

The cases are definitely too big to fit in a sleeve someone would usually store their steelbooks in.

I'll take a pic with a jumbo bag of my IB in it today ... pretty sure tho there is still leftover room in it enough for one amaray to fit in next to it. As I think I have my IB in a jumbo with my CA BB exclusive IB in it as well.

Interested to know what works best too. I have a Smokin' Aces 1 + 2 which I bought unsealed but my steelbook sleeves don't fit it and not sure what else to use

I touched base with a dealer on ebay that I buy protective sleeves/bags from for my steelbooks. I mentioned to him that these don't fit some other items I want to protect (like the very sweet Taxi Driver digibook :D) - he didn't think he could get his hands on anything suitable.

That got me thinking back to when I collected comic books - these are stored in larger bags and maybe useful for some items
I'm just throwing an idea out there - no idea if these are appropriate, but I do remember that one thing with the comic book bags was that you could buy slightly thicker ones (good for those larger steelbooks?..)

I think you can buy them fairly easily off ebay or some of these maybe useful;

not recommending sellers just posting ideas of what might be useful

Interesting, I shall look into those, thanks.

I got the solution. :) video above. Just take a regular sleeve and slide it in, as you do that it tears apart one side nice and smooth. Do it on the side that has the side of the steelcase where the blu-ray slides in. This way if you have one open you can keep it protected from scratched but also still slide out the amaray for viewing pleasure. Works with sealed ones too, just obviously not sliding anything then.

Fits nice and snug tight with no hassle.

I use the sleeves we sell here.

Ahhh - guess I'll have to get some different sleeves for my steelcases - the ones I have for steelbooks are thicker and don't rip in the same way.

I tried cutting a bag (ones I bought too small for a steel), and they are good enough, but a 14mm deep steel bag would probably be better. Cut bags would work for a digibook too, well the smaller ones, they tend to vary in depth quite alot.

When buying bags for SBs, you should consider getting some with the sticky on the main bag. Otherwise the sticky catches the SB sliding in and out, really making it tricky.

But for Wreck's cut-bag trick, a sticky flap would come in handy, if you have enough flap for the sticky part to reach the other part of the bag. I saw him getting out the old Scotch tape.

Next time let me hold the camera for you, Wreck. I think I learned more from your description, because the project went out of the picture during an important part of the demo. ;)

I use some cheap plastic sleeves that I bought from China on eBay. I can't find the link again unfortunately. These sleeves are thinner and more flimsy than the good quality ones, and it means they stretch a little bit and fit very snug.

I went here awhile back called SteelShell Slipcovers. They are not cheap as others, but they do protect very well. http://www.blu-steels.com. They have ones for Jumbo steels as well. I have over 200 steels, so this is worth it and it also keeps the spine exposed only, but they slide right out. It doesn't fit the Disney Steels with their slipcovers on, but ones with the J-cards only, work very well.
