Memento, Dark Knight and Batman Begins director Christopher Nolan has told Variety that he wants to adapt Inception, his massively successful, tricksy dream-weaving film, into a video game based upon the movie's mind-bending world.
Inception grossed $753 million in box office receipts for a reason, and perhaps some sort of sandbox action game could fit the movie's themes and ideas perfectly.
Speaking to Variety, Nolan said, "one thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can't fit into a feature film."
Nolan wouldn't want to rush out a quick cash-in though, adding, "That's something we've been talking about and are looking at doing long-term, in a couple of years."
Imagine the potential an Inception game developed over a few years could have. Our heads are spinning at the prospect, especially if the game has no movie or home video tie-in deadline date to adhere to. Colour us massively excited if this comes off.
Meanwhile, Nolan is in pre-production for the next Batman movie, scheduled for release in 2012.
