It made the pod race and Darth Maul fight scenes awesome. There really is no fixing the movie but this was decent "duct tape"

original post - http://www.3dfocus.co.uk/3d-news-2/3d-film/lucasfilm-to-present-star-wars-episode-2-3d-preview/10108

Academy Award®-winning visual effects supervisors Dennis Muren and John Knoll will treat audiences to a sneak preview of Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, which has been converted to 3D, as well as explaining what goes into creating the Star Wars 3D experience.

The session, entitled Future of Star Wars 3D, is part of a packed three day schedule which has become a must-attend event for Star Wars fans. RealD will be sponsoring the session and will be providing exclusive Celebration VI collectible 3D glasses during the conference which will run from August 23rd to August 26th at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida.

This news confirms that the planned conversion of all Star Wars movies is likely to continue. George Lucas had originally said that the conversion of further Star Wars movies will depend on the box office success of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D, released in February this year. Reviews for that film's 3D credentials were mixed, with some saying the 3D was too subtle but many generally praising the pod-racing sequence.

It is expected that Prime Focus have been behind the conversion of Star Wars Episode 2.

Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones is expected to be released in February 2013.

From StarWars.com:
Focusing on Star Wars: Episode VII, Lucasfilm Postpones Episodes II and III 3D

Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall's scheduled release of Star Wars Episodes II and III in 3D. Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy, we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date.

Good news.
Didn't plan to go see them anyway... Let's focus entirely on SW EP7!!!!

Doesn't bother me one bit, since he was releasing the crappiest 3 in 3d first. Nice to see Disney doesn't want to keep rehashing the old Star Wars, but wants to do new things with the franchise. Lucas ruined the hell out of the original trilogy.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY CELEBRATES RETURN OF THE JEDI ON MAY THE 4TH
March 21, 2013

UPDATE: There will be screenings of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi at 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. PT on May 4. Each screening will feature surprise guests and photo opps. Visit EW.com for more info!

May the 4th is fast approaching, as is the landmark 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly's CapeTown Film Festival at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California, you'll be able to celebrate both at the same time.

A highlight of the festival, which runs from Tuesday, April 30 through Sunday, May 5, will be a very special "May the Fourth Be with You" screening of Return of the Jedi on Saturday, May 4. The screening celebrates the film's 30th anniversary and will be one of the few times since 1997 that moviegoers can experience it on the big screen. "We're thrilled to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi with a screening at the Egyptian -- the very same theater where it premiered in May 1983," said Bill Gannon, managing editor of EW.com.

Stay tuned to StarWars.com and ew.com/capetown for more news on this special event.

I am a little tempted to go!

Rian Johnson is developing a new Star Wars trilogy!!!
Johnson will write and direct the first film in the series, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman onboard to produce.

As writer-director of The Last Jedi, Johnson conceived and realized a powerful film of which Lucasfilm and Disney are immensely proud. In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.

“We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on The Last Jedi,” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement. “Star Wars is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”
