The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children – 14-year-old Paige (Holly Taylor) and 12-year-old Henry (Keidrich Sellati), who know nothing about their parents’ true identity – grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War and the intimate, dangerous and darkly funny relationships they must maintain with a network of spies and informants under their control. The trickiest of Philip’s sources continues to be Martha (Alison Wright), the assistant to Special Agent Gaad (Richard Thomas). In order to ensure her continued loyalty, Philip, in the guise of FBI bureaucrat “Clark,” one of his numerous cover identities, marries her. Things were going smoothly until Martha began pressuring Clark to start a family. Their neighbor, FBI Agent Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich), could also prove to be a renewed threat. When forced to choose between betraying his country or his KGB double-agent and paramour Nina (Annet Mahendru), Stan chose the USA. Nina has been sent back to Moscow to face charges of treason, much to the dismay of her boss Arkady (Lev Gorn), Director of the KGB Rezidentura. In addition to his rededication to his mission of uncovering the identities of the Russian spies living among them, Stan is also attempting to rebuild a relationship with his estranged wife, Sandra (Susan Misner). Meanwhile, in the Jennings’ house, Philip and Elizabeth find themselves at odds over Paige’s future now that the KGB has made it clear that they want her to join the family business.

Thinking about setting the DVR for this and watching an episode or two.

I typically really like FX shows.

Last nights opener was pretty good. It didn't blow me away like the opener of "The Following" did, but it was good enough to make me want to tune in for more.

This show will be cancelled after the first season, mark my words.

Unfortunately, you're probably correct. Most of the shows i watch, end up cancelled.

Do these companies, just think that maybe there is just too much stuff on tv at the same time? I mean, you have all of these stations, that for years just ran others stations reruns, now putting out some quality tv shows, and creating fierce competition. Plus, you can also only get so many ratings, when dvr recording isn't counted, and more and more people dvr a ton of stuff.

It atleast premiered well last night: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...million-total-viewers-wednesday-night/167495/

These channels want everything to do as well as Lost and Friends.

But i honestly think they do not put thought into their shows, some shows that are released, absolutley make no sense, Like replacing Perfect Couples with that ridiculous mad About You spinoff disaster. Both ended up being cancelled. Studios put too much money into trash and don't really do their homework. if the US followed BBC's example, we'd all be watching more TV instead of redbox and netflix.

damn, saw the first episode...And I thought it would be on regular channel in Canada...turns out it was just a teaser and you have to go to the paid channel FX Canada to get the other episodes! sucks!...will wait for it to be cancelled then buy the cheap DVD of it! hehehe! pretty good opener though...nopw I have to find an instrumental version of Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk"!

There hasn't been a boring or bad episode yet, imo. Keri and everybody else, do some top notch acting in this show. I'm a sucker for things about Russian spies as it is.

Apparently, I have access to FX Canada in channel 95 or something that I didn't know...unless this is one of those free-for-a-month come ons by my cable company!

How many episodes have I missed? should I still watch the show or just wait for it on Bluray? enjoyed the pilot episode though...
