great to see the original finally getting a steel release. i know the film can polarise opinion, but i think it's very good. should line up nicely on a shelf with the new sequel.

although, due to the film's picture quality and the way it was shot, i wonder if it would be equally well-served well being released as an 80s-style VHS with a crazy cover! that'd be fun.

Great film, although not technically the first to use found footage 'The Blair Witch Project' redefined horror, especially in an age where horror films were not as prominent. Can't think of any good genre defining horror films of the 90's besides this one (maybe 'Scream'?). Paranormal Activity and its high quantity of sequels have nothing on it.

At least it'll go well on the shelves with the second film steelbook (LOL).
Best way to shift it quicker apart from having a lower pre-order price - fat chance - would be a very limited edition release (how's about 1,000 again!?).

Some of my favourite 1990s horror/horror thrillers (in no particular order):-

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, SE7EN, MISERY, THE SIXTH SENSE, TREMORS, ARACHNOPHOBIA, THE FACULTY, FRANKENHOOKER, AUDITION, CUBE, HARDWARE, FUNNY GAMES, THE RELIC, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, CAPE FEAR (although prefer the original), HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER, RINGU, TWO EVIL EYES, DARKMAN, BLADE. PREDATOR 2, DR. GIGGLES, THE LAWNMOWER MAN, THINNER, DEEP RISING, STIGMATA, LAKE PLACID.

im a huge fan of found footage personally with some great ones out there like this, cloverfield, troll hunter, as above so below, afflicted, REC to name a few and I also Include the first paranormal activity.
It was the first film to scare the sh*t out of me in about 15 years from when I was a kid and the only film as a adult that's done the job in the horror genre so for me it's up there as one of the best. (I watched it last night oddly and still love it - it don't scare me like it did 8 years ago but it defo freaks me out).
First time i watched it with another 7 mates all the same age (early 20s) and I didn't want them to leave. That's never happened before lol
part of the reason I like found footage films is its give me a little buzz because I find it more real. And your eyes are constantly looking out for things because of the way they are filmed and it also plays tricks on your mind thinking your seeing stuff when you are not.

I can watch paranormal activity 2 and 3 as they are not too bad but anything after that is dire.

(Can't believe lake placid, arachnophobia and predator 2 was mentioned in the other list. Ha, where's anaconda!)

I loved Troll Hunter and actually liked The Frankenstein Theory but had no interest in the Paranormal Activity series. Also enjoyed Blair Witch but do I need a steelbook? I'll see when it comes out.

The Ring US remake 2002 or Japanese Ringu 1998 or both?

Yes . . . quite so . . . and corrected . . . obviously, remake shouldn't have been there not having come from the '90's.

1990s not really my era for horror but still big fan of some cracking non-horror films from those times including these below.
N.B. As these are my personal choices of films watched from the 1990's (except for "The Matrix" lol but everyone says it's a good 'un) no comment on these choices is necessary or welcome - thank you for your understanding.
