THE LUCKY ONES DIED FIRST…

Horror master Wes Craven achieved critical and commercial success with the likes of Scream and A Nightmare on Elm Street – but for many genre fans, the director’s seminal 1977 effort The Hills Have Eyes remains his masterpiece.

Taking a detour whilst on route to Los Angeles, the Carter family run into trouble when their campervan breaks down in the middle of the desert. Stranded, the family find themselves at the mercy of a group of monstrous cannibals lurking in the surrounding hills. With their lives under threat, the Carters are forced to fight back by any means necessary.

As gruelling a viewing experience today as it was upon initial release, The Hills Have Eyes stands alongside the likes of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Night of the Living Dead as one of the defining moments in American horror cinema.

Excellent news that one of the few American horror films of a similar quality to anything from the Italians horror icons - Argento, Fulci, Bava, Lenzi - is finally getting a top quality release from the good ol' boys at Arrow almost making it a 40th Anniversary edition . . . and the price of a penny shy of 18 quid is OK too

Personally-speaking not going to pre-order and be forced to cough up that price now for something not due out for over three months - will however be keeping a close eye on all other retailers' prices between now and the end of September and will, with any luck, manage to pick this up for an even more attractive GBP 14.99.

Interesting that they went with artwork not based on the official posters although it must be said that there is no decent artwork available for this film (IMO) and they'll have to create something new for the steelbook if that ever appears.
The 2 official posters:-

The 2006 remake of this 1977 minor masterwork isn't too shabby either although I admit (horror of horrors) to preferring WRONG TURN to either.

(btw, based on a true (?) story of members of the Sawney Bean family who abducted and ate passers-by in 18th century Scotland
http://www.mysteriousbritain.co.uk/scotland/dumfriesshire/legends/the-legend-of-sawney-bean.html ).

Uncut or cut ?

In conclusion: a fitting release to Wes Craven who died last August.

Certain Arrow titles I ordered way in advance like Deep Red because I knew they would be big big sellers. This is going to be one of them. I'll bet you'd be hard pressed to get a copy on the release week.
