I am not a huge fan of this one, but I am glad to see more classic horror in special packaging!

    Looks like it is.

It's from Studiocanal and lists the same extras as the restored blu ray.

Artwork is perfect . . . thankfully not as busy as + more dramatic than the Amaray artwork:-
    upload_2018-2-15_9-26-26.png upload_2018-2-15_9-27-30.png

Restoration has certainly sharpened up the waxy image of the previous disc and more detail is evident for all to see
    Older disc

    Restored disc

. . . but, alas, the new disc does not include the documentary and a handful of other Extras . . .
    Scream Factory Collector's Edition
    upload_2018-2-15_9-13-49.png

Studio Canal Restored Edition Extras in darker print:-
Audio Commentary with director/co-editor Joe Dante, actress Dee Wallace-Stone, and actors Christopher Stone and Robert Picardo
Audio Commentary with source novel author Gary Brandner (moderated by Michael Felsher)

Howling Eternal interview with executive producer Steven A. Lane (18:49)
Cut to Shreds interview with editor Mark Goldblatt (11:20)
    Interview with co-writer Terence H. Winkless (12:32)
Horror's Hallowed Grounds visit to the locations (12:15)

Making a Monster Movie: Inside The Howling featurette (8:01)
Interview with stop-motion effects artist David Allen (8:48)
    Unleashing the Beast" documentary (48:33)
Deleted Scenes (with optional commentary by Joe Dante) (11:29)
    Outtakes (7:03)
    Theatrical Trailer (1:28)
    Photo Gallery

Personally never warmed to this film in the same way as for example AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON . . . but certainly good news that otder films are still getting the steelbook option

I have the Scream Factory Blu-ray
It's a much better Blu-ray than StudioCanal release especially in terms of the extras
Studiocanal Blu-ray is missing the excellent Unleashing The Beast documentary extra

I will be ordering this though for the artwork and the steelbook itself
I will take out the studiocanal Blu-ray and replace it with the scream factory blu-ray

With Scream Factory doing steelbooks now it's possible we might see them do a steelbook at some stage as well

. . . or, best of both worlds, add one of those self-adhesive clear plastic hubs and keep both discs inside the steelbook.

As already mentioned - the SF Collector's Edition may have more Extras but the PQ is better on the SC.
