Important Notice For Owners Of Region B Steelbooks
Blu-devil Blu-devil is offline 08-03-2012, 10:25 AM

I just want to give a heads up to owners of US (Region A) Panasonic BD players.
I have a Region A (US) Panasonic DMP-BD75 which is unmodded.
I have managed to play a number of Region B Locked BD's that I have in Steelbooks. This may save you from having to purchase a Region A disc to put inside, or maybe even sway folks who are in two minds about purchasing these Steelbooks (using the purchase links from this site of course)
What you have to do is place disc in player, when you get a mismatch warning on your screen, do as follows:
Press STOP
Enter 1
Press ENTER
Then you should hear the disc whirring inside the player...
The movies I tried this trick on are as follows:
Drive (UK)
Conan (3D) (FR)
The Hurt Locker (UK)
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (UK)

This trick seems to work on UK Studio Canal titles and French Metropolitan Titles. Maybe someone should try it on a UK Terminator 2 disc.
This trick does NOT work on Region B/C Fox titles (Taken) or German Momentum Titles (Reservoir Dogs/ Blackhawk Down)

I know there is a thread about this trick, I just felt it was urgent enough to throw in here. Mods, feel free to merge with existing thread. But could you possibly give it a few days just to give folks the chance to maybe try it for themselves or even try other titles.

Thank you for your time and best of British.

I have a Panasonic player (B region).

It also works with region A discs.

Sometimes I have to press another number than 1 to get it to work.

Press STOP
Enter 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 etc.
Press ENTER

Maybe the region A players work identically.

I believe this trick also works on some Sony Players. No harm, no foul.

It is indeed the OK button. Have you tried other number combinations?

I have a Magnavox Region A/1 BD player and I have tried this on a few of my region B discs. I got Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy to work, but all of the German discs I tried didn't work. That includes The Expendables (extended cut) and Warrior.
