This Tuesday (Jan. 20th), Universal Pictures will release Peter Jackson’s KING KONG remake on Blu-ray. One of the first few titles to ever release on the now defunct HD-DVD format will finally see the light of ray — errrr, day — on the victorious Blu-ray. For the loyal fans of this flick, its been a long time coming! I for one was amazed by the HD picture of the HD-DVD and enjoyed the movie, too. With that being said, I can’t wait for the Blu release which is already getting 5 star audio and picture reviews.

However, that doesn’t surprise me as it comes with full 1080p goody Blu-ness and DTS HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround Sound. This release comes packed with BD-Live features on a BD-50 disc. The film stars Jack Black and Naomi Watts. Oh, and that King Kong fellow. Lest we not forget, Peter Jackson at the helm.
