Well, they’ve done it again! Panasonic — who were the first to introduce a BD-Live capable Blu-ray player and BonusView capable — have now just released the first ever portable Blu-ray player. The Panasonic DMP-B15 has been designed to provide the ultimate hi-def Blu-ray experience for those on the go. Boasting a 8.9″ high quality WSVGA LCD screen and including the unique VIERRA CAST internet accessibility and BD-Live functionality, the DMP-B15 should hit shelves as early as May in the USA.
It features PHL Reference Chroma Process Plus technology which is a high quality image-processing tech that precisely processes each pixel of the blu-ray disc video signal in the vertical direction. It reproduces color data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems, resulting in loyal and sharp colors.
The player does come with an HDMI connection for ease of use of those who want to double it as a stand-alone player at home. In which case, it can also be connected to a receiver and output HD sound (if receiver capable) to indulge in HD surround sound. The lifespan on the battery is a 3hour rechargeable battery. Like all Panasonic Blu-ray players the B-15 has an SD card slot to utilize picture viewing and HD videos recorded to an SD card.
The beauty of it having VIERRA CAST, along with the entire line of Panasonic 2009 Blu-ray players is it gives you access to Amazon’s Video On Demand service. Amazon VOD is a streaming video service that provides the consumer with access of more than 40,000 titles. VC also allows YouTube, Bloomberg, Google Picasa Web Album, and a weather channel.
