Tonight I was invited to an advanced screening for the film “The Mechanic,” starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster, and I must say I was extremely pleased with the film.

I really like Jason Statham as an actor, but his movies (especially the Crank films) tend to annoy me with their overly macho over-tones, the paper thin plot, and the repetitive nature of the dialogue. While this film was definitely in the same genre that Statham is comfortable working in this film just turned out a lot better than I would have thought.

Arthur Bishop, Jason Statham, is a hitman who is double-crossed and then seeks vengeance on those that wronged him… It’s nothing that you haven’t seen before, and I guarantee you’ll be able to read the plot before it happens, but this is an amazing popcorn film. If you have a significant other that’s not into an over-abundance of blood and violence i’d probably leave them at home, but otherwise i’d most certainly recommend this film for a fun evening.
