Green Lantern Lands on the Top Spot at the Box Office

We have witnessed the release of quite a few superhero movies and all of them had made their way to the top of the box office. This pattern seems to have been repeated by Warner Bros’ Green Lantern which landed on the number one spot at the box office after making its way across 3,800 theaters all over the U.S. Notably the movie stars Ryan Reynolds in the role of the Green Lantern who is a lesser known DC comics character alongside Blake Lively.

The Green Lantern which has been directed by Martin Campbell is expected to not build up a new fan base for the DC comics character but followers of Ryan Reynolds have been drawn to the movie as well. The total earnings of the film upon its debut include the $52.7 million it made during the weekend and the $3.35 million which were earned from Friday’s midnight screenings. Thus the movie rightfully belongs at number one spot in the box office, for now.

As the ‘Green Lantern’ blasted its right to the peak of the box office, ‘Super 8’ by Paramount got left behind, falling to the second this week. There doesn’t seem to be much of a change in its debut earnings and the earnings the movie managed to make this week. ‘Mr. Popper’s Penguins’, the new PG-rated family film by Fox found itself in the third spot of the box office. Fox’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ still seems to be quite popular worldwide, but has dropped to the fourth spot in the box office.
