After waiting for months since its announcement, I have finally received THE DARK KNIGHT Armory from Hot Toys. It’s from their Movie Masterpiece Collection and everything is 1/6 scale. There are two different versions of the armory that you can get: the one that includes the Alfred & Batman or one that includes Bruce Wayne, Alfred, and Batman. The set I’m reviewing has all three figures. Also, there are a ton of weapons, accessories, the actual armory, and even a remote control that works the lighting in the set. So let’s dive right in:
The Batman
The Batman that is included is very similar to the Hot Toys DX-12 that was previously released, but the mouth sculpts are a bit different. It comes with four interchangeable expressions that make posing the Batman figure a lot more versatile in different poses. The Batman head also has the Hot Toys patented Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS) so you can make the searing stares that only The Dark Knight can make. The suit itself is made out of a smooth rubber and mesh combination, but the cape feels like a heavy velvet that is a bit big but when it’s in the figure, it makes The Caped Crusader earn his name.
The six pieces of gloved hands are a pair of fists, relaxed palms, one left open palm and a right palm for holding a batarang. They’re completely interchangeable and the batarang hand can also hold the grappler!
I was happy to find out that the Batman figure is complete and I can use it with The Joker 2.0 figure that I already own. (Joker not included)
It’s also meant to be hung in the back of the armory for displaying or for creating photos to mimic scenes from the film.
He comes with a utility belt that you can add pouches and compartments or just keep it clean. There are several of the “sticky bomb” guns with full motion, batarangs, grappling gun, nunchucks, and so much more. There are so many pieces that they line the back wall and fill six sliding drawers.
The Bruce Wayne figure comes in a three-piece suit, white shirt and a red tie. The sculpt is new and made in the likeness of Christian Bale. The similarity looks incredible and makes it worth picking the version of the armory with him included. The head is removable and fits on the Batman body and it includes a collar to make it look more natural.
The Alfred Pennyworth figure is in the likeness of the amazing Michael Caine. Every crease and wrinkle gives the wise butler depth. He comes in a black suit with a long black coat that he wears in most of THE DARK KNIGHT film.
The armory itself is loaded with extras. Like I mentioned earlier, it includes a load of weapons, but also spots for every single weapon to be hung or displayed in some way. The doors for the front and the back are mesh and include metal wire hooks for hanging things of your choosing. The back doors also open to make it easier to hang the bat suit. There are clear inserts that slide into the bottom to support the hanging suit with the help of these cones that go into the legs of the suit. The coolest feature of the armory is the working lights that include a remote with THE DARK KNIGHT logo on it. This set is arguably the absolute best value that Hot Toys has ever released. I highly recommend that you do not miss out on this as it is tailored for any collector. Complete, it looks awesome in the display case I have and it’s possibly the best piece in my collection so far. Anything to add? Have a question? Feel free to comment below!
