We see a young kid named Billy is waiting for the local newsstand delivery and he can’t wait for his new comic. When the truck pulls up, the deliveryman is relabeled to be ?The Creepshow Creep. He’s back and he’s here to show all the little ghouls the new horror stories he wants to tell.

The stories include Old Chief Wood’nhead, The Raft, and The Hitch-hiker. They’re told in the same style as the original with the Creep running the show. The director is Michael Gornick and this was his first try at a feature film.

VIDEO QUALITY:

The video is a 1080p AVC transfer that has been cleaned up from the 2013 Blu-ray release. Arrow has restored the film to 4k from the original negative; removing blemishes, dirt, and speckles at Pinewood Studios. The image was then transferred to disc in a 2k format. The coloring is one of the first things that you notice with this release. The primaries are bright, especially the reds and blues. They have a brilliance that you would expect from a restoration from this. The details are also strong in textures, clothing, and a lot of the horrific make up. At the same time, there is softness in the brighter daytime scenes. This really stands out in both the first and second stories. There is a very noticeable grain that is present throughout the film the ranges from moderate to heavy. It can get a little overwhelming at times but it doesn’t last long.

AUDIO QUALITY:

The audio is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 mix that leaves you wanting more out of the track. Yes, the different channels are used at various times but there is no real depth that can be heard or experienced. About halfway through the viewing, I changed to the 2.0 track and that came across a bit better. The effects and dialogue sound clean and layered properly.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

CREEPSHOW 2 is a good follow up to first film and it tries to keep in line with the feeling of the original film. It lacked a lot the scariness but it is still a solid effort. The Blu-ray has been well done with a clean video and tuned audio mix. There are a slew of extras on the film and they round off the release. I would say that if you’re into the movie or the series then pick this one up.
