THE MOVIE:

The Punisher is a dark action film based on Marvel’s comic book series. The Punisher follows FBI agent Frank Castle played by Thomas Jane as he becomes the vengeful Punisher after crime lord Howard Saint played by John Travolta orders the hit on Frank Castle’s family. Castle is left for dead, but little do they know he will be back seeking vengeance for his family’s murders and will stop at nothing to destroy Saint’s criminal empire.

VIDEO QUALITY:

The Blu-ray for The Punisher definitely shows its age. A very underwhelming presentation, but thankfully the 4K res, high dynamic range, and Dolby Vision help this release immensely. Not quite as dark a film as Punisher Warzone, but still some bleak spots in his apartment that allow for the darks and drabs of the color hue to give a more filled in brighter look. The outside scenes also benefit from the HDR to give the beach a much brighter tone and allow the colors to pop.

AUDIO QUALITY:

The Punisher shoots its way into your home theater with a banging Dolby Atmos track. Both Punisher films are ones that anything less than Dolby Atmos would likely be a crime in itself. Immersive audio really helps this explosive laden track. Pretty awesome watching Frank Castle going down the pier letting off shotgun blast after shotgun blast ringing through your speakers.
