LEGO Ideas Disney Steamboat Willie Set Revealed

As if the recent LEGO® Flintstones set revealed at the New York Toy Fair wasn’t enough the LEGO group has announced another set in the LEGO Ideas line – Steamboat Willie.

Based on the classic Disney Mickey Mouse cartoon, ‘Steamboat Willie,’ this 751 piece set is a perfect way to celebrate Mickey’s 90th anniversary. The iconic black-and-white animated short debuted in 1928 and was the first Disney film with synchronized sound.

Now you’ll be able to build and display this collectible set and recreate scenes from the cartoon. The black-and-white Steamboat Willie set features steam pipes that move up and down and paddle wheels that rotate when the boat is pushed along. The boat’s bridge has room for a minifigure and play-inspiring nautical details such as the ship’s wheel, life buoy, buildable bell, ‘S.S. Willie’ boat name sign, and ‘1928’ year sign. On deck there is a working crane to lift the ‘potato bin’ cargo aboard. The set features two new minifigures Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, each with silver-colored decoration, plus Mickey Mouse’s parrot figure and Minnie Mouse’s guitar and music sheet.

The LEGO Ideas set comes with a booklet with building instructions, fun facts about the historic 1928 animated Disney short film ‘Steamboat Willie’, and information about this awesome retro set’s fan creator and LEGO designers.
