[Toy Fair 2023] The Return of the Extremely Long But Totally Awesome Collectibles, Figures, and Statue Booths from the Floor of the New York Toy Fair

Starting out my focused article with the collectibles section is quite daunting as there are no shortages of awesome toy manufacturers exhibiting at the New York Toy Fair. While some familiar faces were missing seeing as there is such an abundance of regular and new attendees this article is long. Before I made my final photo selections the folder containing the photos for this article alone had close to a thousand images, which is why the article deserves its moniker. For a bit more insight into the annual Toy Fair I encourage you to check out my other article on the Toy Fair itself.

Even though there were a few notable missing companies at Toy Fair there’s more to cover here than in any other article so let’s not waste time and dive right in! Since I was at the show by myself and I tried to include a wide berth of companies my more normal in-depth analysis is a bit more truncated this year.

Finally, while I encourage you to check out every company I covered since there are so many I’ve included a list of companies covered in this article; a quick ctrl+f will shoot you over to the relevant company:

McFarlane; Super7; NECA; Wizkids; Kidrobot; Enesco; Jada Toys; The Loyal Subjects; Threezero; Dark Horse; yolopark; Trick or Treat; Iron Studios; Diamond Select Toys; Good Smile Company; Square Enix

McFarlane

https://mcfarlane.com/
McFarlane toys always has relevance in the collectors space with a line-up that includes DC, Spawn, Disney Mirrorverse, Avatar, Warner Bros., Dune, and House of the Dragon, as well as their continued NHL and NFL figures. At Toy Fair the folks at McFarlane were kind enough to show us around their booth and focus on some of their new product reveals including a wide assortment of DC figured from the new Aquaman movie, to Batman: The Animated Series, Batman and Robin, and Batman ’66. Other standouts included HBO Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon model dragons, and Dune: Part 2 figures including an amazing Emperor.

Super7

https://super7.com/
Super7 continues to put out a stellar line-up of products from today’s hottest brands including G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, Transformers, Godzilla, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Disney, and Peanuts. They produce figures in everything from their simple ReAction line up to their Ultimates and Vinyl figures line. Owner and Founder Brian Flynn has a passion to get quality products into his fans hands. While at SDCC Super7 introduced the Thundercats Cats’ Lair to their line-up the big news out of Toy Fair came from their G.I. Joe line with the reveal of the Cobra Mothership in their ReAction line. This huge ship will be the centerpiece to any G.I. Joe fan’s collection and will be up for pre-order soon. Other notable callouts include their Heisei Burning Godzilla and their 1200°C Godzilla figures, a Guerilla Gorilla Ultimates TMNT figure, Peanuts Peppermint Patty and Sesame Street Super Grover and Count Von Count Supersize Vinyl figures, and Halloween Kids, The Weirdest, and The Worst Reaction figures.

NECA

https://necaonline.com/
When you discuss collectible figures NECA needs to be part of that conversation. The company has been around for close to 30 years and is still at the height of popularity with a full range of collectible action figures and prop replicas for a variety of licensed properties. Additionally they are the parent company to a few well known names including Wizkids, Kidrobot, and most recently Enesco.

While the Gargoyles line is still a strong property of NECA at Toy Fair the company was showing off a wide range of their other products including a few iterations of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lines including the Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Last Ronin, TMNT II and III, and a very unique TMNT X Universal Monsters crossover line. Also there were a range of figures across the horror genre from Universal Monsters and The Thing to Nosferatu, Megan, and everything in between.  One piece that really impressed me though was their Vincent Price figure. Other notable callouts include Robocop, Krampus, Dungeons and Dragons, Flash Gordon, Wednesday, and Pee-Wee Herman figures as well as music artists Elton John, Freddie Mercury, and Willie Nelson. NECA also has a line of collectible props notably a Batman ’89 Utility Belt, a Batman: The Animated Series Grapnel Launcher, a Batman Beyond Batarang, and a Batman ’66 Bat-Radio, Bat-Cuffs, and Batgirl Walkie Talkie.

Wizkids

https://wizkids.com/
In the WizKids portion of the booth there was a wide range of painted and unpainted miniatures in the Dungeons and Dragons line along with a range of Marvel HeroClix miniatures.

Kid Robot

https://www.kidrobot.com/
Kidrobot had a variety of art toys including their 1st edition of Monster Minis, Andy Warhol Mystery Art Surprise Cans, Bhunny and Dunny lines, South Park Anatomy Art, and the Hello Kitty line. Kidrobot also has a softer side and puts out a wide range of plush from many of their properties including displacer beasts, gelatinous cubes, Tiamet, and Drizzt figures from Dungeons and Dragons as well as from many other properties such as Gargoyles, Godzilla, Assassin’s Creed, Alf, Marvel, South Park. Their plush figures line tops off with their Yummy World line which turns almost any type of food into plush form including some very traditional Jewish meals such as a matzah ball soup, challah, and seder plate.

Enesco

http://www.enesco.com/
Enesco is an American company that specializes in the sales and distribution of giftware. I became aware of Enesco at the previous Toy Fair and the company even had a booth at San Diego Comic Con. What’s interesting though and something I was not aware of is that at the tail end of 2022 Enesco was acquired and became the sister company to NECA.

While the Enesco portion of the booth wasn’t as large as when they had their own booth and they were notably missing their world of Miss Mindy products there were still a fair number of representative items from the company including Harry Potter figures, lighted buildings, movie scenes, and Home Décor. Similar products include Nightmare Before Christmas, Haunted Mansion, Hocus Pocus, and Disney 100. One truly stunning piece was their Facets Disney100 Maleficent figurine.

Jada Toys

https://jadanextlevel.com/
My past impression of Jada Toys was of a company that focused only on die cast metal cars and some figures and while the core of the company still does focus on those products they are branching out into collectible figures. Their big push lately has been a series of 6.5” figures for Street Fighter II and with this success they are continuing with more Street Fighter figures and branching into MegaMan and Universal Monsters. As I mentioned they are still rooted in their die cast metal cars with a new line called Pink Slip which features muscle cars in bold bright colors and chic yet assertive looks. These cars are available in 1/64, 1/32, and 1/24 scale. Rounding out the Jada showcase were their Hollywood Rides line of iconic cars and their very miniscule Nano Scene dioramas from many classic movies.

The Loyal Subjects

https://theloyalsubjects.com/
While The Loyal Subjects booth at Toy Fair did have other product lines my focus was mainly drawn to their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle product line which while mainly showcasing their 1:15 scale BST AXN figures also had a some TMNT CheeBees. New in the line was an IDW figure and comic. While their focus seems to gravitate towards Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles they do have a wide range of properties including Game of Thrones, Cowboy Bebop, Kiss, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and more.

Threezero

www.threezerohk.com
Threezero is recognized by their iconic gasmask logo (designed by Michael Lau) and known for their many iterations of street-smart vinyl figures. For Toy Fair they were showing off a range of figures from Transformers, Walking Dead, Power Rangers, Stranger Things, Gundam, Ultraman, Marvel, Evangelion, and Chainsaw Man. To me this year’s standout piece included their MDLX Hot Rod and their Dungeons and Dragons 1/6 Edgin Darvis which has one of the best facial sculpts I’ve seen in a long time.

Dark Horse

https://www.darkhorse.com/
While Dark Horse main focus is on comics they do also have a fairly strong figures and collectibles portfolio. Recent years have seen a shift into Dark Horse Direct their direct-to-consumer site. which allows fans and collectors to get figures and statues directly into their collections. At Toy Fair their showcase was a bit more focused with some statues from Mass Effect, The Last of Us 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and the Witcher. Dark Horse also displayed some First 4 Figures for The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario. If you are a fan of the upcoming Zach Snyder Rebel Moon movie a small Imperium Dropship was also on display.

yolopark

https://shop.yolopark.com/
yolopark, a Hong Kong based company, mainly offers model kits in the Transformers line in a wide range of scales. The accuracy between their G1 and Rise of the Beasts line made this one of the most unassuming booths at the show.

Trick or Treat Studios

https://trickortreatstudios.com/
Trick or Treat Studios offers a bit of everything for horror fans. They offer a range of action figures, games, masks, costumes, and home décor all horror related. I was not familiar with them before I happened to pass by their small games focused booth and then made my way over to their main booth.  It seems as if there is a horror property they have a figure for it and that includes Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Terrifier, Killer Klowns, Day of the Dead, and Gwar. They even have an upcoming line of figures based on Goosebumps. Costume pieces included Freddy Kruger and Mortal Kombat. From their games division there were a few properties including a hidden movement Halloween game, a press your luck Texas Chainsaw Massacre game, a Universal Monsters deckbuilding game, and a Chucky survival game.

Iron Studios

www.ironstudios.com.br
Iron Studios a Brazilian company specializing in the manufacture of collectible statues from ¼ to 1/10 scale and works with property licenses from Disney, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Star Wars, and plenty more of today’s hottest companies on the most popular licensed properties. While their foot print wasn’t as large as in SDCC they still had a display of figures including a highly detailed Thanos, Peter Quill and Groot, an Avengers scene, and an exceedingly long Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile art scale statue. Star Wars, Mortal Kombat, E.T., Lord of the Rings, and The Godfather were also represented. Their Minico line of statues were given some space in their display with a Back to the Future Marty McFly and Doc Brown, Batman Forever, Black Panther, Harry Potter, Loki, Deadpool, and Stan Lee figures.

Diamond Select Toys

https://www.diamondselecttoys.com/
Diamond Select is a premier distributors of adult collectibles with licenses across the spectrum including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, Ghostbusters, Cobra Kai, and more. Standouts at the Toy Fair included a Hiya Toys Godzilla, Spock Prime Exquisite Mini also from Hiya Toys, 1000 Toys Re:Edit Halo Reach, and a large assortment of their own Star Wars busts. Another thing I noticed that as a distributor they carry a very wide range of licensed boardgames for those interested in getting into gaming and wanted a reason to try one out.

Good Smile Company

https://www.goodsmile.info/en/
Good Smile Company is a manufacturer of vinyl figures, large scale figures, and statues based out of Japan. Figures are based on various anime, manga, and video games as well as licensed content such as DC, Disney, Overwatch, Zelda, Marvel, Harry Potter, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to name a few.

Square Enix

https://na.square-enix.com/us/home
Square Enix Ltd. continues to create figures and plush based on their properties as well as licenses. At Toy Fair their figures were mostly focused on Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and NieR:Automata.

Mondo

https://mondoshop.com
On top of posters and vinyl Mondo also produces collectible figures in the 1/6 scale.
