Limited edition is always the KING! I think all Blufans releases will be over $100 mark at the end of year. 1000 LE is nothing camparing with the growing numbers of steelbook collectors, And the Mod at Blufans told me once they sold out them and there will be absolutely NO reprinting!
Other than that, I think the New wave of Japanese Release (if sold out) will be over $100 mark as well.

Definitely Farewell My Concubine. To some extent Rio. Reel Steel to a lesser extent, but its not a Steel and there are other options (like the Dutch one?). I do hope the Play.com ones turn out nicely as well.

My guess would be Terminator (Play) being the most valuable from this year followed by maybe Rio, The Thing (FR), Alien Anthology (Play), Predator (Play), Kill Bill (Black Suit), Japanese Wave and possibly the Warrior and the Matrix Triology Steel from Germany.

I also have a feeling that WARRIOR is going to be a sleeper that may slip by un-noticed then....BAM ....> 100$

I also think Warrior could be a sleeper. But, I don't know that it will rise too much in value. I could see it being similar to a Book of Eli FS, Faster, etc. Those are slowly rising.

I would agree with virtually all of these, one that seems to have been overlooked imo, is Real Steel (NL) purely because it was not only a limited run although not as limited as Blufans Viva and the artwork isn't as good but because it was the only Steelbook release of the Movie. That in itself isn't a guarantee of future fortunes I'll admit but must surely help in the future. I think you'll need at least £40-50 by years end.

historically speaking, steelbook releases from "catalog titles" rarely go up in value.i don't recall anything at the top of my head:rolleyes:but i feel thats how the market ends up in determining its value.'Moulin Rouge" and "Romeo and Juliet"are the only exceptions since those 2 were in the low hundreds in production.it would have to be from a "new title" release that this would have to come from.look at the super sellers these days:IRON MAN,ZOMBIELAND,RAMBO,WANTED(DE),THE TOWN,INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS,SUCKER PUNCH (SDCC,DE)just to name a few.so you have to basically have to ask yourself, what movie came out from late 2010 to 2012 released this year will be going up in value? in todays market,it boils down to rarity;)unfortunately sometimes regardless of how the actual movie was.it's almost unfair to include blufans.com releases since they are very rare custom made metal cases and not your regular normal releases from the studios and these will go up automatically in value :scat:
having said all of the above,i would say "The King's Speech" would be my pick:oohyeah: for a number of reasons without being to specific since i don't want to give to much of my trade secrets:emb:
thats my pick for 2012 so grab yourself a copy:movie:

While the Kings Speech is good, and the only one ... I just think once a Kings Speech steelbook is made, people will disregard the banana version. Hardcore collectors may still want it, but its not like its part of a trilogy to stay on people's minds. And I dont forsee a future without a Kings Speech steelbook in the next 1-2years. Just my opinion.

I only make that pick assuming no other version gets released ;)
only my opinion of course.maybe we'll find out in a couple of years
and i'll still stick to the point that it would have to be a "new title" release and not a catalog release unless its extremely rare like MR and R&J

There's quite a few titles I think that could sky-rocket ... but problem with that is, they're still in stock ... they'd need to sell out first. :p

Some that are sold out ...

TDK/BB France
Warrior DE (AWESOME MOVIE!!!!)
True Grit
Thor

In stock ...
RotPotA FR
Hop
The Thing FR
X-Men FR
Cars 2 Asia
Lion King Asia
War of Arrows Asia
limited stuff like blufans

True, UK not making Kings Speech is like USA not making Capt. A or Act of Valor lol.

is there a chance that some of these titles are being re-released without official announcements?i became a big fan of amazon.fr with "THE THING","THE NEW BEGINNING" and "RETURN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES" like you mentioned and would've considered any one of those but it seems like these went out of stock for some time and now there seems to be an abundance of them again.go figure.

I agree with most of these but one more so that I reckon will be worth £100+ in the not too distant future is Terminator (Play.com)

Even if they do increase the print run to 5k I predict it will go OOP long before the release date of September and given the title that it is, with the premium finishing and inside art voted by HDN, it seems to have everything going for it.

Blufans titles for obvious reasons too.

like i said, custom made steels are almost unfair since they are not the norm and will obviously go up in value absolutely.its too easy of a pick to make:Dlet's challenge ourselves and pick one that maybe, just maybe nobody will see coming:drool:

Then if we are going for new releases Chronicle could be a sleeper, especially with a sequel being talked about...

If Jurassic Park doesn't get a release anywhere but the Czech Republic, that one could skyrocket. It's already £34 to import it just at retail price.

IMO too many possibilities... but some that come to mind are:

Warrior DE
Chronicle play.com exclusive
Terminator 1 - play.com exclusive
Thor - since its finally now OOS/OOP (although technically a 2011 release)
Drive UK
Some if not all FOX wave play.com exclusives
The Incredible Hulk (2008 version) play.com exclusive
Real Steel Blufans exclusive
John Carter Future Shop Exclusive

Im sure there are plenty of 2011 releases that will just start to rise now and go pretty high be years end.

Those are just some that come to mind. There are so many yet to be released this year after the summer theatrical release craze ends that could be worth a pretty penny (TDKR, Avengers, Hunger Games, etc.)

I have come to like the Viva Metal Boxes, and as long as say, Future Shop, don't get too greedy with their Disney releases (John Carter is a very limited release) I believe that they will go up to $70 - $80 in a short time. Also the Tron: Legacy VMB from Australia is almost completely sold out at retailers, and it is a beautiful Viva.
