Just curious to know how you know this is the extended version? Can't seem to find any info on it and the run time on Amazon/Sainsburys lists it as 119 minutes.

Would love it to be, of course! Suppose I could wait until Monday :hilarious:

I was sure they had it listed as the longer running time but they seem to have changed it. Perhaps this is just a re-release with the UV copy. I know they were supposed to be releasing the extended cut at some point in the UK.

Confirmed as the shorter running time. I'm not sure when they will ever release the other version in the UK.

I'm pretty sure The Shining UK is a different cut than the US. Both released by Warner.

Indeed: UK Blu-ray (EAN: 7-321900-188517) running time 2:00, US Blu-ray (UPC: 085391-157106) running time 2:24.

I have the UK release and checked the US release running time from DVD Profiler database. I didn't know I was missing that much! :(

I watched that documentary on the Shining, Room 237, and they were discussing scenes and stuff that I hadn't even seen before in the UK cut. Very confusing.

At least now you can watch the original theatrical cut without the missing scenes! Like a brand new, better film. I'm almost jealous

Bear in mind that the back of UK blu-ray sleeves often include the runtime from the DVD (which includes PAL speed up) when the actual disc is long due to lack of speed up.

The U.S cut is the cut they used to show on the BBC many years ago, so it's the cut I prefer. I've got the US HD-Dvd, so I'll hang onto that. They really should give us the option of having the extended version.

There was a rumour a while back that it was going to be released in the UK but it never happened. I just imported the US Blu-ray, It was cheap enough and I was sick of waiting!
