I'm not surprised by the Transformers nominations. I loved the first and, for the most part, don't mind the sequels, but that last film was atrocious.

They can kiss my @$$ with those Mummy noms, though. That movie is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It was actually a ton of fun! It's just that, A) People hate Tom Cruise because he has some super weird beliefs and jumped on Oprah's couch a hundred moons ago, and B) People whined that Brendan Fraser wasn't in it (even though that would make zero sense since this Mummy takes place 60-70 years after the Fraser trilogy).

I've never liked Tom Cruise from day one. Something about him I've never liked. Same with Julia Roberts. If they are in a film I switch off. No idea what it is I find the pair of them unwatchable.

The Mummy definitely doesnt deserve worst picture nomination. But Transformers and Fifty Shades do.

I think they are pretty light hearted and the committee don't take themselves so seriously. But they make very valid points about Hollywood and the film studio system within it. Namely the number of remakes, sequels and reliance on franchises.
