A NOTE FROM ABBI JACOBSON AND WILL GRAHAM

Hi!

Thanks for watching A League Of Their Own. We couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. This show means so much to us, and to everyone who worked on it. It’s a show about teams and the importance of finding your team, about the joy that comes from putting in the work with a team to build something you care about more than yourselves.

We grew up with Penny Marshall’s movie, and we absolutely love it — How funny and unpretentious it is, how flawed the characters are. We had a chance to talk to Penny before she passed away, and she told us that “these stories changed my life, and they will for you too." As much we love the movie, the real stories underneath it — including the ones of ***** women, of women of color that didn’t make it into the film — have come to mean even more. We’ve been able to speak to some of the real players, others we’ve read and watched every word we could find. Penny was right; the honesty, humor, commitment and joy with which they fought their way into the field — we’d never heard those stories before, and they changed us. Because of those stories, what you’re about to watch became a show that’s not about one team or league, but about a generation of women who wanted to play ball, and found their flaws, their joy and themselves in the process. And it’s about finding those things in hard times, when the world doesn’t have your back and seems to be coming unwound which, well…

We hope it’s a joy for you to watch as well. We feel lucky to be part of this team.

Abbi + Will
