Just wait to see if cancellations come up. And no offense, but if you've been waiting years for an Aladdin steel you would have noticed this thread!

Well, as I said, I didn't notice it. And I have been waiting for years.

That said, if the artwork on this thread is the actual artwork, I'm happy I won't get my hands on it, and sad that a limited print run justifies such sloppy work. Just slap an old image on a steelbook and start counting the money.

One of the seven stages of grief already kicking in ;)

Yes, for sure, if you cant get it...judge it, way too easy....
and as for the comment on limited print run, thats why they are collectibles, otherwise, plenty of amarays to choose from....

You should be able to pick one up on eBay quite easily and at a cost not too bad if you missed out. There will be an initial flood which will keep your costs lower unless you live in the states. I would definitely check out the auctions and BINs for one fairly priced

Very funny. I actually think it looks really bad, and I was happy to get rid of my DVD because of it. The characters on the cover is not the same style as the movie. Disney is notorious for creating subpar cover art that doesn't resemble the art style of the movie

Very well put, I would also mention to keep checking back around release date as a few may well probably go back up due to cancellations and declined cards etc etc.... Which is exactly how I got my WFRR.

100% Agree with that, I was looking at the cover thinking "That is not Aladdin..."

If you had actually tracked my comments in this thread, you'd know that I actually commented on the artwork before I even knew it was sold out.

Something can be collectible even if it doesn't have a really limited print run. But keeping a low print run is a great way of artificially increasing an item's value. Usually I buy box sets, steelbooks without paying attention to the print run - unless, of course, I can't get my hands on a copy.

Many types of art prints originally had a limited print run to ensure the best possible print quality. That is not the case with Steelbooks (post-edit pun intended)

That being said, my complaint is not that this release has a limited print run, but rather that the print run isn't in proportion to the demand. In comparison Whitnail and I is limited to 4000 copies. How many US (or even UK) Steelbook collectors had heard about that movie prior to the recent steelbook announcement?

Anyone buy extras just in case? Seems like I missed the boat on this one. Also any news of the US/Canada having a steelbook for this? Thanks!

Update:
A few folks have generously offered their help in giving me a copy! Thank you! I have responded to your PMs! Much appreciated!

If you'd like to continue the back and forth, please take this conversation to PM.

Thank you.

Wreck you go above and beyond the call of duty for us steelbook collectors. I think I speak for all us when I say we appreciate everything you try and do for us guys... If it weren't for you we wouldn't get half of the care and attention given to these films when they are released. Especially in regards to the finishing on them!

So anything you do is much appreciated - even if you can't change the artwork.

Bravo Sir, I salute you!

I can easily imagine Disney being quite strict with the artwork for the animated classics; these films are their babies. It's disappointing news, but not particularly surprising.

An Aladdin steel is better than no Aladdin steel, so bring it on!
