My copy arrived this morning, the metallic purple is so deep. Looks brilliant, loving the quality of these lately after Nemo. Can only imagine how Jungle Book and Mermaid will amaze.

Zavvi print 5,000 copies and can't offer replacements because it sold out in two days = Zavvi are disgraceful

Zavvi print 10,000 copies and the item is still available = Zavvi are rip off merchants

It seems like they just can't win.

If it's a title I really want, I take matters into my own hands, I don't bet on the retailer having spare copies come release date.

I have to disagree with you on this I am afraid dude. Having recieved a copy with a big dent on the edge and a large paint chip on it I was not best pleased. I am even more upset with the fact that instead of keeping some copies aside to replace damaged copies, they throw them on ebay for an inflated price and then tell customers who were really looking forward to receiving what they have paid for that they have no copies left and do they want a refund. I have put quite a lot of my hard earned cash Zavvi's way (as have many people on here) and given their record for steels arriving damaged I would have thought they would have had the sense to have a batch of undamaged ones as a contingency plan to keep the customers happy.

As an aside, I have no issue what size the print run is on these steels, I just feel strongly that if you pay good money for a mint steelbook then you should receive a mint steelbook - not a damaged one and then just offered a refund. If I just wanted the money I wouldn't have bought the damn thing in the first place!

Rant over by the way

+1 to that

sadly, the only (relatively) safe way to increase chances of a mint steel is to double up and order 2 with the idea of sending the 2nd back should the first arrive ok.

Bad practice in many ways (on both Zavvi and my part), but Zavvi have yet to show ANY improvement in their damaged item replacement method

well said sir!
it will be the same issue with TLM & JB doesn't matter about the print run.
I think if you've paid to get a product then you want it in pristine condition and yes unfortunately many of us now seem to think its acceptable to order two copies to get one mint, I have done this myself but it is in no way acceptable for a customer to have to pay twice for one mint copy especially when they pull a stunt like they did with this and throw them on ebay for an inflated price before release insuring there were none for a replacement.
Zavvi have no excuse for this except greed they have been selling steelbooks for awhile now guys hell even ES hold back a reserve of replacements and they are only on there 3rd release!

A lot of people ordered 2 of the same steelbook even from Play when they were around...keep in mind they had much better packaging compared to Zavvi as well.

Just remember to post your experiances in the Steelbook Retailer Zone, in this case for Zavvi HERE - hopefully Wreck will pass this info onto them and they can learn from this.

true but there are also alot that cant afford to do this and with zavvi increasing not only the price but the amount of steelbooks and its getting difficult to keep up sorry for continuing but this is a great steel and i really feel for the people who have received copies with imperfections

back on topic now i received mine today and its a really great looking steel hope for a Basil the Great Mouse Detective steelbook soon

I ordered 2 copies for myself and another friend. Both have a defect on the front, a very slight indentation (puncture mark) that looks like it could of been made by pressing the tip of a biro into the item. I couldn't see the defect viewing the item straight on but when held at an angle in the correct light it's plain to see.

After the 4 week wait and numerous emails to Zavvi I've sent waiting for an ID4 replacement (still not arrived) and the potential that they won't have any copies to replace these then I'll be cancelling the £800+ orders I have over the next 5 months with Zavvi and not giving them another penny of my money, I don't care how exclusive they are.

Amazon replaced my defective copy of Platoon on the same day and it arrived 2 days later.. that's excellent customer service.

I'm not saying that what Zavvi did was right, but receiving a damaged Steelbook is always a possibility regardless of the retailer, so it's best to take steps to ensure that you get a mint copy. I recall similar situations with Play.com (e.g. selling Iron Man and Iron Man 2 for £19.99) but they didn't get half as much criticism as Zavvi are getting. Anyway, I have a spare copy which I ordered to give me a good chance of getting a mint one. I would be happy to sell this at cost plus postage at cost.

I feel bad for the people without a mint copy. Luckily for once my only copy arrived in good condition.

Anyone else noticed the inside artwork isn't very sharp and is in fact rather blurry around the outlines? Or is It just me...

Wow.. good on you man to help someone else out with a replacement copy of your own at cost! Don't know too many other folks who would do the same.

While I also took steps to ensure I have 2x copies in case one was defective.. I do think it should be on the Retailer rather than consumer to handle replacements.. I guess the situation could be corrected if Zavvi just offered the guy a refund.. but I've had first hand experience with how bad their customer service is so not much hope there...
