I’m a huge ALIEN fan, so I’m there. But yeah, this seems to be confusing a lot of plot lines. Like Romulus did, in fact. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

“• Set 30 years before the first ‘Alien’ film”

Ugh. Why. ALIEN was the origin story. We don’t need to screw with the origins of this timeline. I hope they come up with a compelling argument for this.
Prometheus is the first story in the Alien franchise timeline. It looks like this show is supposed to take place in what would have been the Prometheus era. Noah Hawley said he would ignore Prometheus and Alien Covenant (second story in timeline), but as you pointed out, he is essentially also ignoring Alien (third story in timeline). Alien takes place in 2122, while Prometheus takes place between 2089 - 2093. Alien: Earth is set to take place 30 years before Alien, which would be 2092.

I think Alien: Earth should have taken place sometime after Alien 3 (2179) as I would been okay with pretending Alien: Resurrection (2379) doesn't exist.

I suppose if hardcore Alien fans are upset by Alien: Earth story details, you could pretend that everything takes place in a parallel universe (alternate universe) like a Marvel film.

Alien Resurrection is the best thing in the franchise, after the first two.
I don't like the series being set before the original Alien, but it could explain the Corporation wanting to obtain a specimen, being secretly aware of it already.

If you wouldn't mind expanding on your statement here please, could you go further into why Alien Resurrection should hold such a lofty position in the Alien universe?

Explain. Damn it man. Explain why!

OK, I'll try.
I grew up on the Alien Trilogy, watching them for the first time probably too young on some late night cable channel. I was severely disappointed by the 3rd part, like many were.
Then when I'm turning 16, exactly on my birthday (well, the next day - US theatrical release was November 26th and I got tickets for the 27th) comes out this 4th movie. I was waiting for it for months, catching any trailers and bits in magazines at the time. It was the first Alien movie I'd watch in a theater, and in a 'premium' Century Plaza in LA, where many world premieres were held in the 90s, so it had the best equipment, sound, and calibration.
They brought my lovely Ripley back, and she was cool as f!
I've also had no idea then who Jean-Pierre Jeunet was, and what his 'style' was, and absolutely loved the colors and camera angles.
Plus I like the expanded cast, and everything happening at the same time in the same place kind of setting, that's why Gremlins 2 is also one of my favorites. There's so too many great moments in it to list, I'd basically be retelling the whole movie like a doped out teenager.
It was my Star Wars, my Jurassic Park, the perfect movie!

I love hearing movie fans stories. It's a great one off moment and that experience holds intense nostalgia. I get it.
Cheers, thanks for explaining @Lenny Nero
