Theatrical Cut >DC. The Director's Cut was not the version that won Best Picture.

How would the DC win best picture? It's not like the TC and DC were in competition for the same award so I don't see how that's relevant at all. The main cut was just to get the age rating down, it wasn't because they didn't want to include it

I get the point though.

The theatrical cut was the OSCAR winner, so deserves to be classed as such. The DC didn't win any OSCARS, so technically isn't deserving of having it advertised as being an OSCAR winner all over the packaging or reviews.

There are many examples of this though, and it's not like most people care anyway. Apocalypse Now, ET, Star Wars etc. have all won awards for the theatrical versions, not any special edition, directors cut that came later.

Untrue. In fact- in the DC commentary Milos Forman says "How did THIS get in here?" When the new footage shows up.
Forman himself preferred the Theatrical cut.

There's a better steel in the past, get the old version. I doubt we're going to get anything better.
The old Steelbooks were also disappointing, I don't understand why Warner finds it so difficult to use the unchanged poster artwork and refine it with a high-quality finish and debossing. With Beetlejuice, Warner has shown how to do it right.

Best I can do for you. @Greyback

It's gold spot gloss. Not sure where you heard it has metallic effects. It's all over the slip case in small details.
Thank you for the great pictures, you can see the metallic effect very well here.

Can you also take a photo of Mozart's shimmering gold clothing, which has the same effect?

As far as I know there is no golden spot gloss. Spot gloss is simply a varnish that is selectively applied after the printing process. Unfortunately, this is also the problem if you have gold or silver elements, they can't have a metallic shimmer like a Steelbook or hot foil stamping. However, you can combine spot gloss with a silver foil. By printing the artwork on the silver foil, all colors appear to have a metallic shimmer, just like with a Steelbook. However, as with a Steelbook, not all colors should appear metallic (faces always look very strange due to the effect), opaque white is applied to the silver foil to selectively suppress the metallic effect.

Are the small dots or stars in the background flat or slightly debossed?

Thanks for the information, very interesting. Nevertheless, the buyer should be offered a choice, as was the case with Apocalypse Now. Coppola has had all three versions restored in 4K.

Hi. I'm not nearly qualified to answer any of these questions.
As far as I can tell, there's zero foil. It's just spot gloss. It doesn't shimmer. Neither the stars nor Amadeus clothing. It just shines in the light as spot gloss would. That's about as much as I can tell.
You can see from the photos it isn't holofoil.

I think we're talking at cross purposes, I'm not talking about a holofoil, but a silver foil. A holofoil has this rainbow effect. I recognised a metallic shimmer on the golden elements in your photos and unboxing videos, spot gloss can't do that.

Do you also own old Warner Digibooks like 300 or the Indiana Jones Blu-ray Disc box from 2012? This is also a silver foil.

I would say that's a no. It doesn't look nearly as reflective, glossy or as shiny as that Indiana Jones.

Amadeus is a flat spot gloss, almost a matte gloss finish if that makes sense. I don't know what else to tell you.

If I'm honest, you sound like you might be expecting much more than this release has to give. You're setting up for disappointment either way. Probably best to pass on it.
